Abstract
Materi Biologi yang kompleks dan abstrak seringkali membuat siswa tidak
tertarik untuk belajar dan pasif dalam proses pembelajaran. Proses pembelajaran
yang tidak efektif akhirnya membuat hasil belajar siswa rendah, khususnya hasil
belajar kognitif siswa. Penelitian ini bertujuan mengetahui pengaruh penggunaan
media magic cube terhadap hasil belajar kognitif siswa pada topik sistem
pencernaan manusia.
Metode penelitian ini adalah metode penelitian kuantitatif dengan desain
penelitian one group pretest postest design. Penelitian dilakukan mulai tanggal 3
Agustus 2015 – 13 November 2015. Populasi penelitian ini adalah seluruh siswa
kelas VIII semester ganjil SMP XYZ Batam. Sampel penelitian adalah 18 siswa
VIIIB. Teknik pengambilan sampel menggunakan non probability sampling.
Instrumen penelitian yang digunakan adalah tes dan lembar observasi. Instrumen
tes diuji validitasnya menggunakan pearson product moment corelation dan
reliabilitasnya dengan alpha cronbach. Nilai alpha yang diperoleh adalah 0,829.
Analisis data dilakukan dengan menggunakan analisis N-gain dan uji Z-skor
dengan taraf signifikansi 5%.
Hasil analisis menunjukkan bahwa rata-rata N-gain sebesar 0,57, dalam hal
ini peningkatan hasil belajar kognitif masuk kategori sedang. Hasil uji Z
menunjukkan adanya pengaruh positif dan signifikan penggunaan media magic
cube terhadap hasil belajar kognitif siswa kelas VIII (Zhitung = 2,478 > Ztabel =
1,645)./ The complexity and abstract Biology materials often make students are not
interested in studying and passive in the learning process. Thus, the ineffective
learning process causes low student achievement, especially students’ cognitive
achievement. The aim of this research is to find out the effect of magic cube
media toward students’ cognitive achievement on human digestive system topic.
This study was a quantitative research using one group pretest postest
design. The research was conducted from August 3rd, 2015 until November 13th
,
2015. The population of the research was VIII grader students in odd semester at
SMP XYZ Batam. The sample of the research was 18 students of VIIIB. The
sampling technique used was a non probability sampling. The instruments used in
this research were test and observation sheet. The validity of the instruments used
pearson product moment corelation and the reliability used cronbach alpha. The
alpha value obtained was 0,829. Data analyzing technique used was the N-gain
analysis and Z-score test.
The analysis result showed that the average of N-gain is 0,57, the cognitive
achivement of learning outcome known as the medium category. The result of Z
test showed that there is a positive and significant effect in using magic cube
toward the cognitive achivement of learning outcome in grade VIII (Zvalue = 2,478
> Ztable = 1,645).
