Abstract
Penelitian ini didasarkan pada hasil observasi peneliti di kelas VII SMP N
ABC yang menemukan bahwa kebanyakan siswa memiliki hasil belajar kognitif
yang rendah pada pelajaran IPA Terpadu. Salah satu penyebabnya adalah
pembelajaran yang selalu terfokus dengan metode ceramah interaktif dan suka
bercerita saat pembelajaran berlangsung. Dengan melihat situasi ini maka, peneliti
memutuskan untuk menerapkan STAD untuk membantu mengatasi masalah
tersebut. Diharapkan dengan diterapkan metode STAD tujuan penelitian dapat
berhasil yaitu meningkatnya hasil belajar kognitif siswa.
Metode penelitian ini adalah penelitian tindakan kelas (PTK) yang
dilakukan di SMP N ABC, sebuah SMP di Kabupaten Jayapura. PTK dengan dua
siklus ini dilakukan pada 3 Agustus 2015- 11 November 2015. Dengan melibatkan
24 orang siswa sebagai subjek penelitian. Hasil data dianalisa menggunakan dengan
menggunakan teknis analisis deskriptif kualitatif. Instrumen yang digunakan adalah
lembar tes tertulis, lembar angket siswa, lembar wawancara mentor, lembar
penerapan metode dan Jurnal refleksi.
Berdasarkan hasil dari data yang ada dapat disimpulkan bahwa penerapan
metode STAD dapat meningkatkan hasil belajar kognitif siswa. Hal ini terlihat dari
hasil tes tertulis siswa yang meningkat pada siklus kedua. Penerapan metode STAD
sudah dilakukan sesuai dengan langkah-langkah penerapan metode STAD. / This research was based on researcher’s observation result on Grade 7 of ABC
Public Junior High who found that most of the students achieved low cognitive
achievement on Integrated Science. One of the cause is that the lesson have always
been focused to the Interactive-Direct Instruction method recalled when learning
takes place. Based on this situation, therfore researcher decided to apply STAD in
order to overcome the problem. Researcher expected that by applying the STAD
method the purpose of the study could be achieved which was to increase the
cognitive achievement of the students.
Researcher used “Classroom Action Research” (CAR) as research method that took
place in ABC Public Junior High, a Junior High School in the district of Jayapura.
This two cycles CAR was held on August 3rd 2015 – November 11th 2015. By
involving 24 students as the research subject. The data result was analyzed using
descriptive qualitative analysis technique. Instrumens that were used are written test
sheet, students’questionare sheet, mentor interview sheet, method application sheet,
and journal reflection.
Based on the data results, it could be concluded that the implementation of STAD
method could increase the students’ cognitive achievement. It can be obsereved
based on the students’ written test result that increased on the second cycle. The
implementation of STAD method had been applied based on the implementation of
STAD method procedure.
