Abstract

Generasi digital native melakukan self-disclosure identitas keagamaan di Instagram. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui bagaimana bentuk self-disclosure yang menjelaskan keberanian generasi digital native dalam mengungkapkan identitas keagaaman mereka di media sosial di Instagram dengan teori self-disclosure menurut DeVito. Penelitian ini adalah penelitian dengan metode studi deskriptif. Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan teknik observasi dan wawancara terhadap mahasiswa dan alumni Univeristas Pelita Harapan karena merupakan universitas Kristen di Indonesia yang berpusat pada Kristus, dengan tujuan menghasilkan pemimpin masa depan yang takut akan Tuhan. Temuan dari penelitian ini adalah fenomena pemanfaatan Instagram yang digunakan oleh generasi digital native untuk melakukan self-disclosure identitas keagamaan. Media sosial menjadi salah satu bentuk pemanfaatan internet dan teknologi digital yang dilakukan oleh generasi digital native. Mereka berani menyatakan identitas agama sebagai pemeluk agama Kristen di Instagram melalui berbagai momen kegiatan di gereja, kesaksian, hingga ayat Alkitab yang mereka ungkapkan dalam bentuk feed dan story. Tujuan dari membagikan hal tersebut di Instagram, supaya orang lain dapat merasakan dampak positif. Penelitian selanjutnya, diharapkan memperdalam teori self-disclosure yang berkaitan dengan generasi digital native yang aktif dalam menggunakan media sosial. Diharapkan kepada para peneliti selanjutnya supaya lebih mengembangkan ruang lingkup penelitian, supaya mendapatkan hasil temuan yang baru/The digital native generation self-discloses their religious identity on Instagram. This research aims to find out how the form of self-disclosure that explains the courage of the digital native generation in revealing their religious identity on social media on Instagram with the theory of self-disclosure according to DeVito. This research is a descriptive study method. Data collection was conducted using observation and interview techniques with students and alumni of Pelita Harapan University because it is a Christ-centered Christian university in Indonesia, with the aim of producing God-fearing future leaders. The findings of this study are the phenomenon of Instagram utilization used by the digital native generation to self-disclose religious identity. Social media is one form of internet and digital technology utilization by the digital native generation. They dare to declare their religious identity as Christians on Instagram through various moments of church activities, testimonies, and Bible verses that they express in the form of feeds and stories. The purpose of sharing this on Instagram is so that other people can feel a positive impact. Future research is expected to deepen the theory of self-disclosure related to the digital native generation who are active in using social media. It is hoped that future researchers will further develop the space for self-disclosure. It is hoped that future researchers will further develop the scope of research, in order to obtain new findings
