Abstract
Pendidikan Kristen bertujuan untuk membantu dan membimbing para siswa
menjadi murid Yesus yang bertanggung jawab. Salah satu bentuk tanggung jawab
siswa yaitu memahami konsep. Hasil observasi di Sekolah Lentera Harapan Curug
menunjukkan bahwa siswa kelas VII-A memiliki pemahaman konsep yang rendah
pada pelajaran Biologi. Beberapa penyebabnya yaitu siswa menganggap pelajaran
Biologi sulit karena banyak hapalan, memiliki banyak materi dan istilah yang rumit.
Metode Jigsaw dipilih sebagai solusi atas permasalahan tersebut karena dapat
menjangkau semua siswa untuk terlibat aktif dalam memahami konsep pelajaran.
Tujuan penelitian ini yaitu untuk a) mengetahui ada tidaknya peningkatan
pemahaman konsep tentang ciri-ciri makhluk hidup melalui penerapan metode
Jigsaw; b) menjelaskan penerapan metode Jigsaw yang dapat meningkatkan
pemahaman konsep tentang ciri-ciri makhluk hidup bagi siswa kelas VII Sekolah
Lentera Harapan Curug. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah Penelitian
Tindakan Kelas (PTK) yang terdiri dari dua siklus. Penelitian ini melibatkan siswa
kelas VII-A Sekolah Lentera Harapan yang terdiri dari 18 siswa laki-laki dan 14
siswa perempuan. Instrumen penelitian yang digunakan adalah lembar observasi
penerapan metode, lembar observasi aktivitas siswa, lembar soal tes, lembar angket
siswa, lembar panduan wawancara mentor dan siswa, lembar catatan lapangan
mentor, dan jurnal refleksi. Hasil tes menunjukkan bahwa terjadi peningkatan
pemahaman konsep siswa dari siklus satu sampai siklus dua pada indikator;
menyatakan ulang (84% - 97%), memberikan contoh (56% - 84%), menjelaskan
(81% -94%), dan membedakan suatu konsep (75% - 94%). Data dari instrumen
tersebut memberikan kesimpulan bahwa penerapan metode Jigsaw secara
sistematis dapat meningkatkan pemahaman konsep ciri-ciri makhluk hidup bagi
siswa kelas VII-A Sekolah Lentera Harapan./ Christian education aims to help and guide the students to be disciples of
Jesus who are responsible. One of students’ responsibilities is understanding the
concept. Based on the result of the observations from Lentera Harapan schools
showed that the students have low concepts of understanding in Biology subject.
Some of the causes were the students assumed that Biology is a difficult subject to
be learned because there is a lot things to be memorized, a lot of materials and
difficult term. The researcher decides to apply Jigsaw method to overcome these
problems. The aims of this research are to a) know if there is an improvement of
conceptual understanding about the caracteristics of living things through Jigsaw
method; b) explain the implementation of Jigsaw method which can improve the
conceptual understanding about the caracterictics of living things for grade VII
students in Sekolah Lentera Harapan Curug. The researcher applies Classroom
Action Research (CAR) consists of two cycles. The research involves VIIA grade
students of Sekolah Lentera Harapan junior high school which consists of 18 male
students and 14 female students. The research instruments used are the observation
sheet of method implementation, the observation sheet of students’ activity,
question test’s sheet, questionnaire’s sheet, the interview guidance’s sheet for both
mentor and students, the mentor field record’s sheet, and journal reflection. The
results of the test showed that there is an improvement occurs of the conceptual
understanding from first cycle until second cycle at the indicators of restating again
(84% - 97%), giving examples (56% - 84%), explaining (81% - 94%), and
differentiating a concept (75% - 94%). All of the data from the instruments gave
conclution that the implementation of Jigsaw method systematically can improve
the conceptual understanding of grade VII students in learning characteristics of
living things in Sekolah Lentera Harapan junior high school.
