Abstract
The World Economic Forum in 2016 stated that leadership is one of the many character qualities that students need to be able to deal with environmental changes in the 21st century. Unfortunately, student leadership development has not been carried out regularly, for all students without exception. Several previous studies have shown that the servant leadership model is the best leadership model to instill in students. Furthermore, other research shows that leadership will have more impact if there is mutual support with spirituality. Because of that leadership development needs to be integrated with the development of spirituality. Athalia High School is a Christian school that regularly implements servant leadership strategies. As a Christian school, Athalia High School wants to build student spiritual formation, including through servant leadership learning. This study aims to find out the experiences of students' spiritual formation in the implementation of servant leadership learning strategies, general themes that emerged in this experience, and the role of servant leadership learning for students' spiritual formation. This research is qualitative research with phenomenological methods. The data source was determined by the purposive sampling method. Data collection was carried out through interviews with eight Athalia High School students who chose spiritual formations in the servant leadership character application project. The results of the research show that servant leadership learning facilitates students to experience spiritual formation. There are four general themes experienced: self-awareness as an element of spiritual formation, spiritual formation as a meaningful routine, life change through spiritual formation, and challenges of spiritual formation./World Economic Forum pada 2016 mengemukakan bahwa kepemimpinan merupakan satu dari sekian kualitas karakter yang dibutuhkan murid untuk dapat menghadapi perubahan lingkungan di abad ke-21. Sayangnya pengembangan kepemimpinan murid sekolah belum dilakukan secara reguler, untuk semua murid tanpa kecuali.Beberapa penelitian sebelumnya menunjukkan bahwa model servant leadership merupakan model kepemimpinan terbaik untuk ditanamkan kepada para murid. Lebih lanjut, penelitian lain menunjukkan bahwa kepemimpinan akan lebih berdampak jika ada saling topang dengan spiritualitas. Karena itu pengembangan kepemimpinan perlu disatukan dengan pengembangan spiritualitas. SMA Athalia merupakan sekolah Kristen yang mengimplementasikan strategi servant leadership secara reguler. Sebagai sekolah Kristen, SMA Athalia ingin membangun formasi spiritualitas murid diantaranya melalui pembelajaran servant leadership. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengalaman formasi spiritual murid dalam implementasi strategi pembelajaran servant leadership, tema-tema umum yang mengemuka dalam pengalaman tersebut, dan peran pembelajaran servant leadership bagi formasi spiritual murid. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kualitatif dengan metode fenomenologi. Sumber data ditentukan dengan metode purposive sampling. Pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui wawancara terhadap delapan murid SMA Athalia yang memilih formasi spiritual dalam proyek penerapan karakter servant leadership. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan pembelajaran servant leadership memfasilitasi murid mengalami formasi spiritual. Ada empat tema umum yang dialami: kesadaran diri sebagai elemen formasi spiritual, formasi spiritual sebagai rutinitas bermakna, perubahan hidup melalui formasi spiritual, dan tantangan formasi spiritual.
