Abstract
Salah satu peran dan tanggung jawab siswa adalah mencapai hasil belajar
yang baik. Namun peneliti menemukan bahwa nilai rata-rata siswa kelas VIII
belum mampu mencapai nilai KKM yang ditentukan. Berdasarkan pengamatan
peneliti, siswa tidak tertarik dengan pelajaran IPA khususnya materi Biologi
karena dianggap terlalu banyak dan susah dimengerti. Untuk mengatasi masalah
tersebut, peneliti menggunakan metode pembelajaran koperatif tipe STAD untuk
meningkatkan hasil belajar ranah kognitif siswa. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk
mengetahui apakah penerapan metode STAD dapat meningkatkan hasil belajar
ranah kognitif siswa dan untuk mengetahui cara penerapan metode STAD dalam
meningkatkan hasil belajar ranah kognitif siswa.
Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah Penelitian Tindakan Kelas
model Kemmis & Taggart yang dilaksanakan selama dua siklus. Subyek
penelitian adalah siswa kelas VIII dengan jumlah siswa sebanyak 24 orang.
Dalam meningkatkan hasil belajar, peneliti menggunakan beberapa instrumen
yaitu lembar observasi guru pamong, lembar angket siswa, lembar tes,
dokumentasi, dan jurnal refleksi peneliti. Data yang diperoleh kemudian dianalisis
secara deskriptif.
Penerapan metode STAD menggunakan 5 langkah besar yaitu penyampaian
materi pembelajaran, pengorganisasian siswa ke dalam kelompok, pemberian
kuis, evaluasi nilai siswa, dan penghargaan kelompok. Berdasarkan hasil
penelitian siklus 1 dan siklus 2, penerapan metode STAD dapat meningkatkan
hasil belajar ranah kognitif siswa dengan persentase siswa yang mencapai nilai
KKM sebesar 66, 67% menjadi 83, 33%. Dengan demikian dapat disimpulkan
bahwa metode STAD merupakan metode yang tepat untuk meningkatkan hasil
belajar siswa. / One of student’s role and responsibility is achieving good learning result.
Researcher found that the average score of grade VIII are not able to achieve the
KKM specified. Based on the researcher’s observations, the students are not
interest with science especially in Biology, because the students consider it as a
hard subject. To solve that problem, the researcher use STAD cooperative
learning method to improve student’s cognitive learning result. The aims of this
research is to determine whether the application of STAD method can improve
student’s cognitive learning result and to find ways of the implementation of
STAD method in improving student’s cognitive learning result.
The researcher use Classroom Actions by Kemmis and Taggart method
that were held for two cycles. The subjects of this research are the 24 students of
grade VIII. In improving learning result, the researcher use some instruments such
as observation sheet, questionnaire sheet, test sheet, documentation, and the
reflection journal of researcher. The data were analyzed descriptively.
The implementation of STAD method use 5 big steps which are to deliver
the learning materials, organizing students into groups, provides quiz, evaluation
student’s score and group valuation. Based on the result of the first cycle and the
second cycle, the implementation of STAD method can improve student’s
cognitive learning result with the percentage of students who reached the KKM
66,67% to 83,33%. The conclusion is STAD method is a right method to improve
student’s learning result.
