Abstract

Penciptaan teknologi cryptocurrency dan blockchain telah membawa fenomena baru dan tidak konvensional di dunia keuangan global. Keberadaan mata uang yang diadopsi secara global yang dikeluarkan oleh kelompok atau individu yang tidak berafiliasi dengan negara mana pun menimbulkan pertanyaan tentang bagaimana hal itu akan mempengaruhi ekonomi politik global, apakah manfaatnya dan apakah dapat menjadi ancaman. Republik Filipina adalah salah satu negara paling ramah crypto, mengakui keberadaan nya sebagai mata uang virtual, dengan kerangka hukum yang tepat, infrastruktur, dan tingkat adopsi yang tinggi, sehingga untuk mendapatkan pemahaman yang lebih baik tentang cryptocurrency dan perannya dalam ekonomi global, penelitian ini dimaksudkan untuk memeriksa perkembangan adopsi cryptocurrency di Filipina dan apa implikasinya terhadap keadaan sosial ekonomi negara tersebut. Teori liberalisme digunakan dalam penelitian fenomena ini untuk menganalisis tanggapan masyarakat Filipina dan pemerintahnya terhadap adopsi cryptocurrency dalam ekonomi mereka. Penelitian ini akan mengambil pendekatan kualitatif dan studi kasus yang memeriksa data yang dikumpulkan melalui studi literatur, data sekunder, laporan dan publikasi pemerintah mengenai adopsi cryptocurrency di Filipina. Penelitian ini akan membahas adopsi cryptocurrency di Filipina dan implikasi ekonominya. Ruang lingkup penelitian ini rentang dari tahun 2014 sejak penasehat pertama dari Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas hingga 2022, dimana penelitian ini akan fokus pada perkembangan penerimaan cryptocurrency oleh warga Filipina, bersama dengan kebijakan yang diambil oleh pemerintah Filipina dalam menanggapi implikasi ekonominya. / The development of financial technology has brought upon unrivalled changes to global finance. The creation of cryptocurrency as global non-government issued currency brings about new and unconventional phenomenon in the global political economy world. The existence of a global currency issued by groups or individuals unaffiliated with any state poses questions regarding how it will affect global political economy, what benefit might or rather threats that it might bring. The Republic of Philippines is among one the most crypto friendly countries, acknowledging it as a virtual currency, with proper legal framework, infrastructure and high rates of adoption by its people, as such to gain a better understanding of cryptocurrencies and its role within the global economy this research is intended to examine the development of cryptocurrency adoption within the Philippines and what implications that it brings to the economic state of the country. The theory of liberalism is used within this research of this phenomenon to analyse the response of the people of Philippines and its government towards the adoption of cryptocurrency within their economy. This research will take a qualitative and case study approach examining data gathered through literature study, secondary data, reports and government publication regarding the adoption of cryptocurrency within the Philippines. This research will discuss the adoption of cryptocurrency and its economic implication within the Philippines. The scope of the research ranges from 2014 since the first advisory from the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas to 2022, focusing on reception of cryptocurrency by the citizen of Philippines, along with the policies taken by the government of Philippines in response to its economic implications.
