The development of sustainable solid waste management processes in tourism villages is crucial to ensure environmental preservation and the provision of a quality experience for tourists. This study focuses on examining the implementation of government regulations on solid waste management in developed and independent tourism villages in Indonesia, specifically Cibuntu and Setu Babakan. The research aims to address two main research problems. Firstly, investigate the existing regulations pertaining to solid waste management in tourism villages. Secondly, explore the strategies that can be employed by both tourism villages to implement the government regulations on solid waste management. The findings indicate that although there is a lack of optimal socialization of solid waste management regulations in tourism villages, efforts have been made by the villages to manage solid waste. However, greater involvement and support from tourism stakeholders are required to raise awareness and adherence to these regulations. The study highlights various actions taken by developed and independent tourism villages, such as the use of incinerators, composting, and waste bank programs, to support the implementation of solid waste management regulations. The implementation of solid waste management practices in these villages is influenced by their specific capabilities, limitations, and characteristics. While the analysis shows that the current practices in these tourism villages comply with Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy Regulation No. 09 of 2021, there is still room for improvement and to ensure alignment with regulations and addressing any potential areas for enhancement.
