Abstract
Academic ability, particularly in cognitive aspect is one of the students’
equipment in doing their ministry as God’s active disciples who has true knowledge
and faith in Jesus Christ. Therefore, students’ achievement for cognitive learning
objectives containing the details of the intellectual competences should be noted by
the end of the learning. The researcher found that the students she taught had
difficulties achieving the cognitive learning objectives in Mathematics class. This
research was conducted to know if Student Team Achievement Division (STAD)
could help overcome this problem and how STAD could increase students’
cognitive learning objectives achievement.
This research was conducted to find out whether the application of STAD
could increase grade X students’ cognitive learning objectives achievement and to
know how it could help increased the students’ cognitive learning objectives
achievement in learning Quadratic Equations and Functions. The researcher used
Classroom Action Research in conducting the research in a private Christian high
school in West Jakarta. The research consisted of two cycles. Descriptive statistical
analysis and qualitative descriptive analysis were used for data analysis.
The research results show that STAD could increase the students’ cognitive
learning objectives achievement even though the target for this research was not
satisfied. The application of STAD in teaching grade X students Quadratic
Equations and Functions was improved through good time allocation and good
supervision./ Kemampuan akademik, terkhususnya secara kognitif, menjadi salah satu
perlengkapan yang harus dimiliki siswa dalam pekerjaan pelayanan mereka sebagai
murid-murid Tuhan yang memiliki pengethuan dan iman sejati dalam Yesus
Kristus. Oleh sebab itu, pencapaian tujuan pembelajaran ranah kognitif siswa
menjadi hal yang sangat penting untuk diperhatikan. Peneliti mendapati bahwa
siswa yang diajar mengalami kesulitan dalam mencapai tujuan pembelajaran
kognitif. Penelitian ini diadakan untuk mengetahui apakah penerapan Student Team
Achievement Division (STAD) dapat mengatasi masalah ini dan bagaimana STAD
dapat meningkatkan pencapaian tujuan pembelajaran ranah kognitif siswa.
Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk menemukan apakah penerapan STAD dapat
meningkatkan pencapaian tujuan pembelajaran kognitif siswa kelas X dan untuk
mengetahui bagaimana penerapan STAD dapat meningkatkan pencapian tujuan
pembelajaran kognitif siswa pada pelajaran Persamaan dan Fungsi Kuadrat. Peneliti
menggunakan metode Penelitian Tindakan Kelas dalam pelaksanaan penelitian ini
di sebuah SMA Kristen di Jakarta Barat. Penelitian ini terdiri dari dua siklus.
Analisis statistik deskriptif dan analisis deskriptif kualitatif digunakan untuk
menganalisa data.
Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa STAD dapat meningkatkan
pencapain tujuan pembelajaran kognitif siswa, walaupun tidak memenuhi target
dari penelitian ini. Penerapan STAD dalam mengajar siswa kelas X mengenai
Persamaan dan Fungsi Kuadrat akan menjadi lebih maksimal dengan alokasi waktu
dan pengawasan yang baik.
