Abstract
Penelitian ini dilakukan berdasarkan observasi peneliti di kelas VII A SMP
UTY. Peneliti melihat bahwa selama pembelajaran yang berlangsung di kelas,
siswa tidak pernah diberikan kesempatan untuk mencoba memecahkan masalah
melalui soal cerita. Hal tersebut menyebabkan siswa menjadi kurang mampu
dalam menyelesaikan soal yang berbentuk cerita. Padahal soal cerita pada
matematika berhubungan dengan kehidupan sehari-hari. Oleh karena itu, peneliti
memutuskan untuk menerapkan pendekatan PMRI untuk mengatasi permasalahan
tersebut. Tujuan peneliti yaitu untuk mengetahui bahwa penerapan pendekatan
PMRI dapat meningkatkan kemampuan siswa dalam menyelesaikan soal cerita
dan mengetahui cara penerapan PMRI pada pelajaran matematika.
Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian tindakan kelas (PTK) yang dilakukan
di SMP UTY, yaitu sekolah Kristen yang berada di kota Medan. PTK ini
dilakukan dengan dua siklus yang dilaksanakan dari tanggal 28 September 2015 –
27 Oktober 2015 dan jumlah subjek dalam penelitian ini berjumlah 31 siswa.
Hasil data yang diperoleh dianalisis dengan menggunakan teknik analisis
deskriptif kualitatif. Instrumen yang dipakai untuk mengumpulkan data-data
adalah lembar observasi mentor, angket siswa, tes, wawancara mentor, dan jurnal
refleksi peneliti. Data dari seluruh instrumen memberikan kesimpulan bahwa
penerapan pendekatan PMRI yang diterapkan pada kelas VII A SMP UTY dapat
meningkatkan kemampuan siswa dalam menyelesaikan soal cerita, meskipun
indikator keberhasilan belum tercapai pada penelitian ini./ The research was based on observation in class VII A UTY junior high
school. Researchers saw that for learning that lasted students have never been
given the chance to try to solve the matter through word problems. This makes
students become less capable of in resolving problems that the story shaped. In
fact a word problem on math associated with everyday life. Hence, researchers
decided to apply PMRI approach to overcome the problems. The purpose of
researchers is to know that the implementation of the approach PMRI can improve
the ability of students in resolving a word problem and figure out how the
application of PMRI in math .
The research use class action research (CAR) that was conducted by in
junior high school UTY, namely Christian School where are located in Medan.
CAR is conducted by two cycle held on 28 September 2015 - 27 October 2015
and the number of subject in research were 31 students. The results of the data
collected were analysed using a descriptive analysis qualitative technique.
Instrument that used to collected data are sheets of observation mentor, survey,
test, mentor interview, and journal reflection researchers. Data from the whole
instrument provide a summary that the implementation of approach PMRI applied
to class VII SMP UTY can increase of students ability in resolving word
problems, although indicators success has yet to be reached on this research.
