Abstract

The publication of Law Number 28 of 2014 concerning Copyright has also given new hope to book authors related to the legal and economic benefits obtained. Copyright is the exclusive right of the creator that arises automatically based on the declarative principle after a work is realized in tangible form without prejudice to restrictions in accordance with the provisions of laws and regulations. In Copyright Law, books are objects of a person's Intellectual Property Rights, the protection of which is regulated in the Copyright Law which prescribes infringement if there is an act committed by someone against a copyrighted work whose copyright is owned exclusively by someone. One example of the impact of selling or buying and selling books on the Tokopedia platform without the author's consent is this, where the book is sold through the platform without the author's consent. Agus Budianto's Criminal Procedure Law handout book, besides being able to harm consumers as buyers, it can also harm the creator and initial publisher of the book. Legal protection of consumers is needed to ensure the interests and safety of other parties (dictate writers) and consumers as buyers so as not to be harmed. Then in addition to the need to regulate the interests and safety of consumers, it is also necessary to regulate the sale of books without the author's consent.
