Abstract

Pembangunan infrastruktur jalan memiliki peran penting dalam perekonomian Indonesia, namun kerusakan jalan yang terjadi dalam masa layan sering menjadi masalah yang menghambat. Salah satu penyebabnya adalah kondisi tanah existing yang tidak mendukung konstruksi, seperti tanah ekspansif yang rentan terhadap perubahan volume. Tanah dengan karakteristik ini cenderung menyebabkan retakan dan deformasi pada jalan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengatasi permasalahan ini dengan memanfaatkan metode stabilisasi menggunakan bakteri Bacillus subtilis dan Bacillus amyloliquefaciens. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penggunaan kedua bakteri ini mampu meningkatkan daya dukung tanah secara signifikan. Stabilisasi dengan bakteri Bacillus amyloliquefaciens menghasilkan peningkatan kekuatan daya dukung hingga 179,07%, sedangkan Bacillus subtilis meningkatkan kekuatan daya dukung hingga 160,46%. Ketebalan tanah yang distabilisasi juga mempengaruhi kekuatan tanah, dengan ketebalan 30 cm menjadi yang terkuat. Hasil uji kuat geser menunjukkan bahwa tanah yang distabilisasi dengan Bacillus amyloliquefaciens memiliki sudut gesek dalam tanah yang lebih tinggi. Dengan demikian, penelitian ini mengonfirmasi bahwa penggunaan bakteri Bacillus subtilis dan Bacillus amyloliquefaciens dalam metode stabilisasi dapat efektif meningkatkan daya dukung dan kekuatan geser tanah. Hal ini memberikan implikasi positif dalam mengatasi masalah tanah eksisting yang kurang baik pada pembangunan infrastruktur jalan, dengan potensi untuk meningkatkan masa layan jalan dan kualitas infrastruktur. / Road infrastructure development has an important role in the Indonesian economy, but road damage that occurs during its service life is often a problem that hinders it. One reason is the condition of the existing soil which does not support construction, such as expansive soil which is susceptible to changes in volume. Soils with these characteristics tend to cause cracks and deformation of roads. This study aims to overcome this problem by utilizing the stabilization method using the bacteria Bacillus subtilis and Bacillus amyloliquefaciens. The results showed that the use of these two bacteria significantly increased the carrying capacity of the soil. Stabilization with Bacillus amyloliquefaciens resulted in an increase in bearing capacity up to 179.07%, while Bacillus subtilis increased the bearing capacity up to 160.46%. Stabilized soil thickness also affects soil strength, with a thickness of 30 cm being the strongest. The results of the shear strength test indicated that the soil stabilized with Bacillus amyloliquefaciens had a higher internal friction angle. Thus, this study confirms that the use of Bacillus subtilis and Bacillus amyloliquefaciens in the stabilization method can effectively increase the bearing capacity and shear strength of the soil. This has positive implications for addressing the problem of existing poor soils in road infrastructure development, with the potential to improve road service life and infrastructure quality.
