Abstract
Pemahaman konsep merupakan salah satu hal yang penting dan perlu dimiliki
oleh setiap siswa ketika menerima materi pelajaran. Berdasarkan observasi,
ditemukan bahwa siswa kelas VIII SMP XYZ di Tangerang memiliki pemahaman
konsep yang rendah pada mata pelajaran Matematika. Hal ini terlihat dari hasil
ujian siswa yang rendah dan banyaknya siswa yang tidak mencapai KKM pada
kuis. Oleh karena itu, peneliti bertujuan untuk membantu meningkatkan
pemahaman konsep Matematika siswa dengan menerapkan mamenerapkan
pembelajaran kooperatif tipe NHT.
Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah Penelitian Tindakan Kelas (PTK)
dengan model penelitian Kemmis & McTaggart yang berlangsung selama dua
siklus. Penelitian dilaksanakan pada tanggal 22 Oktober 2015 sampai 3 November
2015. Alat pengumpulan data adalah soal tes siswa, observasi guru pamong dan
teman sejawat, dan jurnal refleksi pribadi peneliti.
Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pada siklus pertama, presentase siswa yang
memenuhi KKM mencapai 76% dan siklus kedua mencapai 79%. Sehingga
penerapan pembelajaran kooperatif tipe NHT yang dilakukan sesuai dengan
langkah-langkah yang ditetapkan dan dengan perbaikan dapat meningkatkan
pemahaman konsep siswa pada mata pelajaran Matematika. Peningkatan
pemahaman konsep siswa dilihat dari hasil tes yang telah memenuhi nilai KKM
(Kriteria Ketuntasan Minimal) yaitu 60./ Concept understanding is one of importance things and needed to be possessed by
every students when they receive learning materials. Based on observation,
observer found that grade 8
th students in XYZ Junior High School in Tangerang
have low concept understanding in Mathematics. It can be seen from student’s
low exam results and the amount of students who didn’t pass the passing grade on
quiz. Because of that, observer’s purpose is to help to improve student’s concept
understanding in mathematics by applying cooperative learning type NHT.
The observation method used is Classroom Action Research (CAR) with
observation model Kemmis and McTaggart which went on for two cycles. The
observation began on 22 October 2015 until 3 November 2015. The tools used to
gather data are student’s test problems, mentor’s and peer observation, and
observer’s personal reflection journal.
The observation result shows that in the first cycle, the percentage of students who
passed the passing grade reached 76% and the second cycle reached 79%. The
implementationof cooperative learning type NHT which was done relevant with
the steps and with some improvement can improve student’s concept
understanding in mathematics. The improvement of student’s concept
understanding can be seen drom test result wich has passed the passing grade
which is 60.
