Latar belakang: Dalam profesi kedokteran, komunikasi efektif merupakan salah satu komponen yang penting. Namun, penelitian yang menunjukkan korelasi antara self-esteem dan komunikasi efektif masih menunjukkan hasil yang tidak konsisten. Penelitian yang dilakukan terhadap mahasiswa kedokteran pun belum banyak dilakukan. Oleh sebab itu, peneliti tertarik untuk mengetahui korelasi antara self-esteem dengan komunikasi efektif pada mahasiswa kedokteran. Tujuan penelitian: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui bagaimana korelasi antara self-esteem dengan kemampuan komunikasi efektif pada mahasiswa FK UPH angkatan 2020. Hipotesis: Terdapat korelasi antara self-esteem dengan kemampuan komunikasi efektif pada mahasiswa pre-klinik Fakultas Kedokteran Pelita Harapan Angkatan 2020. Metodologi: Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian dengan jenis studi analitik korelatif dengan desain penelitian potong lintang. Penelitian ini akan dilakukan terhadap 78 mahasiswa pre-klinik Angkatan 2020 Fakultas Kedokteran Universitas Pelita Harapan. Hasil penelitian ini kemudian akan ditabulasi dengan Microsoft Excel dan dianalisis menggunakan program Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS) 26.0. Hasil: Berdasarkan hasil penelitian, didapati nilai p=0,117 di mana lebih besar dari level signifikansi yang digunakan (p=0,05). Kesimpulan: Tidak terdapat hasil yang signifikan antara self-esteem dengan komunikasi efektif pada Mahasiswa Pre-Klinik Angkatan 2020 Fakultas Kedokteran Universitas Pelita Harapan. However, research showing a correlation between self-esteem and effective communication still shows inconsistent results. Not much research has been conducted on medical students. Therefore, researchers are interested in knowing the correlation between self-esteem and effective communication among medical students. Objective: This study aims to find out the correlation between self-esteem and effective communication skills in UPH Faculty of Medicine students class of 2020. Hypothesis: There is a correlation between self-esteem and effective communication skills in pre-clinical students at the Faculty of Medicine Pelita Harapan Class of 2020. Methods: This research is a correlative analytic study with a cross-sectional research design. This research will be conducted on 78 pre-clinical students Class of 2020 at the Faculty of Medicine, Pelita Harapan University. The results of this study will then be tabulated with Microsoft Excel and analyzed using the Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS) 26.0 program. Results: Based on the results of the study, it was found that the value of p value = 0,117 was greater than the significance level used (p value = 0,05).
