Abstract
Kemampuan Phonics sangat diperlukan oleh siswa dalam proses awal
pembelajaran membaca atau mengeja, khusunya pada siswa usia dini. Phonics adalah
bunyi dari suatu lambang huruf dan juga cara pengucapan dari lambang huruf
tersebut. Tetapi permasalahan yang terjadi di lapangan adalah kurangnya kemampuan
Phonics siswa. Siswa masih belum bisa mengucapkan Phonics dengan benar dan
belum bisa membedakan serta mengidentifikasi bunyi dari lambang huruf yang
diperdengarkan. Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan tujuan untuk mengetahui media
audiovisual berupa video animasi dapat meningkatkan kemampuan Phonics i, j, k, l
siswa kelas TK B dalam pelajaran Bahasa Inggris.
Penelitian ini dilakukan di sebuah sekolah TK di kota Medan, Sumatera
Utara. Adapun subjek penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas TK B yang berjumlah 38
orang. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah Peneltian Tindakan Kelas (PTK)
model Kemmis dan McTaggart yang berlangsung selama dua siklus yang
dilaksanakan pada tanggal 6 Oktober -10 November 2015. Instrumen yang digunakan
untuk mengumpulkan data dalam penelitian ini adalah lembar kerja siswa, lembar
wawancara, jurnal refleksi dan lembar umpan balik. Data yang di peroleh akan diolah
menggunakan teknik analisis deskriptif.
Berdasarkan hasil penelitian, penggunaan media audiovisual berupa video
animasi ini dapat meningkatkan kemampuan Phonics i, j, k, l dalam pelajaran
Bahasa Inggris siswa kelas TK B, antara lain: a) membedakan bunyi huruf yang
diperdengarkan 65.79% menjadi 76,31%, b) mengidentifikasi lambang huruf yang
terkandung dalam sebuah kata 73.68% menjadi 89.47%./ The ability of phonics indispensable by students in the initial process of
learning reading or spelling, especially in their early age. Phonics is the sound of an
emblem letters and also how the pronuonce the letter of the emblem .But the
problems that occurred in the field is the lack of the ability of phonics students.
Students are still unable to utter phonics correctly and could not distinguish and
identify sound an emblem of letters heard. This research done with purpose to know
the audiovisual aids in the form of animated video can increase the ability of phonics
i , j , k , l students kindergarten class b in english lesson.
This research is conducted in a kindergarten school in Medan, Sumatera
Utara. Subject of this research are 38 of K3 students. The research method use was
Class Action Research (CAR), which done in two cycles that held in October 6th to
November 10th 2015. Instruments used in collecting the data were students
worksheet and reflection journal. Data obtained will be processed using descriptive
analysis techniques
Based on the research results , the use of audiovisual aids in the form of an
animated video can increase the ability of Phonics i, j , k , l in English language
subject K3 students, among others : a) distinguish the sounds of the letters that was
played 65.79 % to 76.31 % , b ) identifies the symbol of the letter is contained in a
word 73.68 % to 89.47 %.
