Abstract

Rain gauge or udometer is an equipment which used for measuring rainfall at a location within a period of time. That information can be used for a lot of things, such as managing hydroelectric power plant, planning for outdoor event, also affecting wireless signal like free space optic (FSO), and outdoor Wi-Fi. But that information is limited in availability, so rain gauge based on IoT (Internet of Things) is needed where the data can be distributed using internet connection, can be monitored and integrated for other purpose. In this study, an IoT (Internet of Things) based system was designed which the system can get data from a rain gauge which will be processed and uploaded to an IoT server by a microcontroller inside Arduino with the help of a ESP8266 module as the gateway, so that data can be accessed by other electronic devices which has been connected with internet connection. The calibration of the equipment showed an increase in rainfall value of 0.1656 mm each time the tipping bucket of the rain gauge changed position, with an error percentage of 2.48%, where the detected rainfall value was smaller than the calculated rainfall value./ Rain gauge atau udometer adalah sebuah alat yang digunakan untuk mengukur nilai curah hujan di sebuah lokasi dalam periode waktu tertentu. Informasi tersebut dapat digunakan untuk berbagai macam hal seperti pengelolaan pembangkit listrik tenaga air, mengatur acara outdoor, dan berpengaruh juga terhadap sinyal wireless seperti free space optic (FSO), dan Wi-Fi outdoor. Tetapi informasi tersebut sulit untuk didapatkan, sehingga diperlukan rain gauge berbasis IoT (Internet of Things) di mana data tersebut dapat disebarkan menggunakan jaringan internet, dapat dimonitor, dan diintegrasikan dengan sistem untuk keperluan lain. Pada penelitian ini dirancang sebuah sistem rain gauge berbasis IoT (Internet of Things) yang dapat mengambil data dari sebuah rain gauge yang akan diproses dan dikirimkan ke sebuah server IoT oleh sebuah mikrokontroler dalam Arduino dengan bantuan modul ESP8266 sebagai gateway, sehingga data dapat diakses oleh perangkat elektronik yang telah terhubung dengan jaringan internet. Kalibrasi alat yang dibuat menunjukkan peningkatan nilai curah hujan sebesar 0.1656 mm setiap kali rain gauge berjenis tipping bucket berpindah posisi, dengan persentase error sebesar 2.48%, di mana nilai curah yang terdeteksi lebih kecil dibandingkan nilai curah hujan yang diperhitungkan.
