Abstract
Keaktifan belajar siswa merupakan salah satu proses penting dalam pembelajaran, karena dapat mendorong partisipasi siswa dan keterlibatan siswa di dalam kelas. Selain itu, akan menunjang siswa untuk memperoleh keberhasilan pembelajaran yang baik. Namun, fakta di lapangan ketika mengajar di kelas XI IPS mata pelajaran geografi menunjukkan bahwa siswa kurang aktif dalam belajar. Terlihat dari indikator keaktifan belajar siswa yang bertentangan dengan respons siswa di dalam kelas seperti, tidak memperhatikan guru, tidak ada yang bertanya dan berpendapat. Tujuan penulisan paper ini adalah untuk menjelaskan penerapan metode kooperatif tipe think pair share dalam mengupayakan keaktifan siswa di dalam kelas. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode penelitian kualitatif deskriptif. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa penerapan metode think pair share dapat mengupayakan keaktifan siswa di dalam kelas melalui 3 langkah-langkah yaitu: berpikir (think), berpasangan (pair), dan berbagi (share). Saran yang dapat diberikan penulis kepada peneliti selanjutnya adalah dapat menerapkan langkah-langkah metode Think Pair Share dengan mengembangkan cara belajar, seperti menggunakan media belajar tambahan digital dan non digital atau belajar di outdoor menyesuaikan dengan materi pembelajaran yang relevan pada siswa./Student engagement is one of the crucial processes in learning. With active student engagement, students become involved and participate in the classroom, which in turn supports them in achieving successful learning outcomes. However, the real-world scenario when teaching Geography to 11th-grade students in the social sciences stream (IPS) indicates that students are not very active in their learning. This can be observed from indicators of student engagement that are inconsistent with their responses in the classroom, such as not paying attention to the teacher, no questions or opinions being raised. The purpose of this paper is to explain the use of the cooperative method known as "Think Pair Share" in promoting student engagement in the classroom. The research methodology employed in this study is qualitative descriptive research. The results of this study demonstrate that the application of the Think Pair Share method can promote student engagement in the classroom through three key steps: thinking (think), pairing up (pair), and sharing (share). Recommendations for future researchers include implementing the Think Pair Share method while also exploring various learning approaches, such as utilizing additional digital and non-digital learning resources or incorporating outdoor learning experiences that are relevant to the subject matter being taught to the students.
