Abstract
Studi di Indonesia tentang gambaran Fathering Self-Efficacy terhadap Ayah dengan anak ASD masih jarang ditemukan. Padahal hal ini penting untuk memahami lebih dalam tentang keyakinan, kemampuan, dan kesiapan Ayah dalam mengasuh anaknya. Penelitian ini membantu mengisi kekurangan itu
dengan mengeksplorasi Fathering Self-Efficacy Ayah dalam mengasuh anak dengan ASD. Dengan menggunakan penedekatan fenomenologis, wawancara dilakukan pada tiga Ayah (usia 43-45) yang memiliki anak dengan ASD (usia 6-19). Terdapat tujuh tema yang diambil dari dimensi teori Fathering Self-Efficacy yang dikemukakan oleh Sevigny. Kemudian data yang dikumpulkan dianalisis menggunakan interpretative phenomenological analysis (IPA). Temuan penelitian menunjukkan bahwa ketiga partisipan memiliki keyakinan yang kuat dalam aspek-aspek FSE mereka, meskipun mereka juga menghadapi tantangan khusus dalam peran mereka sebagai ayah dari anak dengan ASD. Temuan ini memiliki implikasi teoritis dan praktis dalam memahami peran ayah dalam keluarga anak
dengan ASD dan menyoroti pentingnya dukungan, komunikasi, dan adaptabilitas dalam memenuhi kebutuhan anak-anak tersebut / Research on the depiction of Fathering Self-Efficacy (FSE) among fathers of children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) in Indonesia is scarce. However,
such exploration is crucial for a deeper understanding of fathers' beliefs, capabilities, and readiness in parenting their children. This study addresses this gap by investigating FSE among fathers raising children with ASD through a phenomenological approach. Interviews were conducted with three fathers (aged 43-45) who have children with ASD (aged 6-19). Seven themes were derived from the dimensions of the FSE theory proposed by Sevigny (2016). The collected data were analyzed using Interpretative Phenomenological Analysis (IPA). The findings reveal that the participants exhibit strong beliefs in various aspects of their FSE, notwithstanding the unique challenges they face in their roles as fathers of children with ASD. These findings have theoretical and practical implications for understanding the paternal role within families of children with ASD, emphasizing the importance of support, communication, and adaptability in meeting the needs of these children.
