Abstract
The electric battery industry is an electric transportation component industry that needs to be intensified in an integrated manner from upstream to downstream to make Indonesia a major exporter of electric batteries on a global scale. However, there is a realization that this vision requires large funding as well as technology transfer from foreign investors. Government's strategy is needed to attract more foreign direct investment (PMA) in Indonesia. In this scientific paper, the researcher will: 1) analyze the foreign direct investment regulations of electric battery industry in Indonesia, and 2) examine the implementation of these regulations to realize sustainable investment in the electric battery industry. In conducting the research, the researcher uses the normative-empirical law research method by collecting data types through interview (primary) and literature review (secondary). The researcher also uses data collection techniques sourced from secondary data which is supported by primary data with the type of legal systematic approach and legal principles approach in assessing the relevant issues in this scientific paper. Based on the research conducted, the researcher found that FDI in the electric battery industry already has comprehensive regulations. However, these regulations still contain several shortcomings so that it seems it does not reflect legal certainty. Viewed from the government's perspective, this is the factor that makes sustainability investment in electric battery industry has not been able to be implemented optimally.
