Pengawasan terhadap kegiatan praktikum di Laboratorium Komputer UPH Surabaya perlu dilakukan, karena terdapat penggunaan komputer yang tidak semestinya, di mana mahasiswa membuka dan menggunakan program selain yang diperlukan pada waktu praktikum berlangsung. Kegiatan ini dapat menyebabkan terganggunya konsentrasi kegiatan praktikum. Namun terdapat kesulitan untuk melakukan pengawasan karena terbatas jumlah asisten dan banyaknya komputer yang digunakan. Salah satu solusi untuk mengatasi permasalahan tersebut, maka dirancanglah sebuah program aplikasi yang dapat mengawasi komputer melalui Local Area Network (LAN). Aplikasi ini dibuat dengan memanfaatkan teknologi client-server, di mana client adalah komputer yang digunakan oleh mahasiswa, sedangkan server adalah komputer yang digunakan khusus untuk mengawasi client tersebut. Berdasarkan hasil uji coba yang dilakukan, dapat disimpulkan bahwa aplikasi dapat memenuhi kebutuhan untuk mengawasi penggunaan komputer client di Laboratorium Komputer. Adapun fungsi-fungsi pengawasan yang dapat dilakukan, antara lain: melihat tampilan layar monitor client (Capture Screen Client), Pengiriman pesan ke client berupa informasi maupun peringatan (Send Message), melakukan remote restart dan shutdown, melakukan penguncian dan pembebasan kembali terhadap keyboard dan mouse (Remote Lock-Unlock Keyboard and Mouse), mengunduh file dari server, dan mengunggah file ke server (File Transfer). / Monitoring activity needs to be conducted in UPH Surabaya Computer Laboratory due to inappropriate computer usage such as students disclose and use other programs aside the used one. This will disturb concentration during laboratory practice activity. However, there are some difficulties in conducting the supervision since the limited number of laboratory assistant and a few number of used computers. To overcome the problems, the author design an application program which able to monitor computer through Local Area Network (LAN). This application is created by utilizing client-server technology, where client is the student's used computer while server is special computer that used to observe the client. Based on the tryout, there can be concluded that the application meet the need of supervising client's computer usage in Computer Laboratory. The function that can be implemented namely overseeing client's monitor screen (Capture Screen Client), message sending to client in the form of information or warning (Send Message), remote restarting and shutdown, locking and unlocking the input of keyboard and mouse (Remote Lock-Unlock Keyboard and Mouse), downloading file from server, and upload file to server (File Transfer).
