Copyright is an exclusive right owned by the creator or copyright holder of the work they produce. Cinematographic works or films are a type of art or creation protected by Copyright Law. Despite this protection, many people still engage in film piracy and upload it to illegal websites. The negative impact of copyright infringement on filmmakers includes both moral and economic rights. The issue examined in this thesis is how legal protection is implemented for the copyright holder of the film "Mencuri Raden Saleh" in the digital era and what legal sanctions are imposed on individuals involved in film piracy in the digital age. This research adopts a normative approach (laws, books, and other library sources). The data used include primary legal materials, secondary legal materials, and tertiary legal materials. Data acquisition is carried out through the collection of legal materials using literature studies and structured interviews. The data analysis used in this research is qualitative analysis, which involves the interpretation of the legal materials studied. The results of this thesis indicate that copyright holders of films already receive legal protection through existing laws because film works are protected for 50 (fifty) years from the first announcement. However, with the continuous evolution of technology, legal regulations need to be constantly adjusted. Regarding legal sanctions, this research examines various punishments such as imprisonment and fines.
