Indonesia as a developing nation, needs to build various infrastructure projects to improve the living standards of its people. These often require the use of government owned land, and when there's not enough state land available, the government follows a process called Land Acquisition. According to Article 6 of the UUPA, all land rights have a social purpose. This means that landowners must be willing to give their land rights to the government if it's needed for public interest development projects. However, problems can come up when the government doesn't compensate landowners properly. This study centers on Supreme Court Decision Number 992 K/Pdt/2022, aiming to 1) identify legal protections for landowners in land acquisition, and 2) analyze how legal issues are resolved in land acquisition. By analyzing qualitative data, the researcher aims to provide meaningful answers to the research problems. The Land Acquisition Law is supposed to give strong support for protecting the rights of landowners when the government takes their land for public interest. This should ensure fair and effective legal protection for landowners. The decisions made by courts, from the trial court (South Jakarta District Court) to the Supreme Court of the Republic of Indonesia, show that the legal system is working to ensure justice. These decisions assert the importance of giving compensation in Land Acquisition. As a result, it's expected that those involved in Land Acquisition will fulfill their duty to provide fair compensation, reducing cases where landowners are not rightfully compensated.
