Abstract

Penggunaan humor pada lingkungan pekerjaan sering kali dilihat sebelah mata dan dianggap sebagai suatu bentuk ketidakprofesionalan. Berbeda hal nya dengan industri yang berorientasi kepada manusia sehari-harinya, humor perlu diterapkan untuk membuat suasana bekerja lebih hidup. Khususnya pada industri perhotelan, Hotel Horison Ultima Bandung mengaplikasikan humor sebagai salah satu strategi kepemimpinan untuk mendukung keterlibatan kerja dan kepuasan kerja pada karyawan Hotel Horison Ultima Bandung. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengindentifikasi bagaimana penggunaan humor diterapkan sebagai strategi kepemimpinan dalam mengundang keterlibatan kerja dan kepuasan kerja pada karyawan. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif dan metode eksploratif. Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan beberapa cara menurut jenis data, data primer diperoleh melalui wawancara mendalam (deep interview) dan observasi. Sementara itu, data sekunder didapatkan dari literatur, buku, dan jurnal terkait dengan topik. Hasil yang diperoleh melalui penelitian ini adalah penggunaan humor yang diterapkan pemimpin di Hotel Horison Ultima Bandung berhasil menjadi alat mediasi emosi positif yang terpancar pada keterlibatan kerja dan kepuasan kerja pada karyawan. / The use of humor in the work environment is often underestimated and considered a form of unprofessionalism. In contrast to industries that are people-oriented, humor needs to be applied to make the work atmosphere more lively. Especially in hospitality industry, Horison Ultima Hotel Bandung applies humor as a leadership strategy to support work engagement and job satisfaction among Hotel Horison Ultima Bandung employees. This research aims to identify how the use of humor is applied as a leadership strategy in inviting work involvement and job satisfaction in employees. This research uses qualitative methods and exploratory methods. Data collection was carried out in several ways according to the type of data, primary data was obtained through in-depth interviews and observation. Meanwhile, secondary data was obtained from literature, books and journals related to the topic. The results obtained through this research are that the use of humor applied by leaders at the Horison Ultima Hotel Bandung has succeeded in becoming a mediation tool for positive emotions that radiate in work engagement and job satisfaction in employees.
