Abstract

Film merupakan salah satu produk media massa yang terus berkembang, karena film merupakan salah satu media yang digambarkan sesuai dengan realitas sosial yang berkembang didalam kehidupan masyarakat. Proses penyampaian pesan dalam sebuah film menggunakan media audio visual, sehingga mudah diserap dengan cepat oleh khalayak yang menontonnya. Menonton film dapat memberikan efek-efek tertentu kepada masyarakat yang menontonnya, seperti berdampak pada gaya hidup dan juga perilaku masyarakat secara langsung. Mempromosikan atau mempublikasikan suatu daerah dalam sebuah film dapat juga dilakukan oleh para penulis skenario ataupun sutradara, pasalnya film memberikan efek mengajak dan persuasif melalui media audio visual secara tidak langsung. Untuk itulah, penelitian ini dilakukan untuk mengetahui apakah film dapat mengkomunikasikan pariwisata suatu daerah kepada masyarakat yang menontonnya. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan metode penelitian analisis semiotika. Pengumpulan data penelitian dilakukan dengan data primer yaitu mendokumentasikan scene dengan cara melakukan screenshot adegan-adegan dalam film Susah Sinyal yang menggambarkan pariwisata daerah Sumba secara visual dan verbal. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa film Susah Sinyal merupakan salah satu media film yang mengkomunikasikan pariwisata daerah Sumba. Hal tersebut dibuktikan dengan banyaknya pengambilan gambar secara visual dan dialog secara verbal yang memperlihatkan situasi daerah Sumba yang sesungguhnya./ Film is a product of mass media that is constantly growing, since it is a media portrayed in accordance to the social reality of society. Since a film conveys its messages by using audio visual media, its messages are easily understood by its audience. Watching films can have certain impacts on its audience, such as impacts on their lifestyles and behaviors directly. Promoting or publicizing a region can be done by screenwriters or directors, as films create an inviting and persuasive effect indirectly through audio visual media. For this reason, this research was conducted to find out whether a film can communicate the tourism of a region to the audience of the film. This research was conducted using a qualitative approach with semiotic analysis research method. Research data gathering was carried out by using primary data, documenting the scene by taking screenshots of scenes that visually display the beauty of the tourism of Sumba region in the film "Susah Sinyal". The results of this study indicate that the film "Susah Sinyal" is a film media that communicates the tourism of Sumba region. This is evidenced by the substantial amount of shots in the film that show the overall setting of the place. Hence, the audience of the film "Susah Sinyal" indirectly become aware that Sumba is a region with beautiful natural attractions.
