Abstract

Mass Media has become one important thing in people's live. Various information is presented through media such as television and gadgets.And Film is a form of mass communication, not only as entertainment but also a media for conveying messages through audio and visuals. Generally, a film that will be shown in theaters shows footage promotion or what we usually call a trailer. The trailer consists of several selected shots, and contains the best scene in the film. 'The Santri' trailer, which aired on Youtube September 9, 2019, has caused a controversy before the film released. Quoted from PBNU's website, this film elevates the values ​​and learning traditions of Islamic boarding schools based on independence, simplicity, tolerance, love for the homeland, as well as anti-radicalism and terrorism attitudes. Meanwhile, according to Luthfi Bashori as caregiver for Ribath Al Murtadla Al Islami Singosari Pesantren, the film does not relate with Islamic law and does not contain pesantren traditions. Therefore, this research will discuss the controversy of the lifestyle of students in the movie trailer 'The Santri' which I examine using the Semiotic Theory of Roland Barthes. This study uses a qualitative approach with a content analysis method, using the Roland Barthes semiotic approach. Researchers obtained data by analyzing the contents of the movie trailer 'The Santri'. / Media Massa menjadi salah satu bagian dalam kehidupan masyarakat. Berbagai informasi disajikan lewat media seperti Televisi, maupun Gadget. Film merupakan salah satu bentuk komunikasi massa, tak hanya sebagai hiburan juga merupakan media untuk menyampaikan pesan lewat audio, maupun visual. Umumnya sebuah film yang akan tayang di bioskop menayangkan cuplikan sebagai promosi atau biasa kita sebut trailer. Trailer terdiri dari beberapa shot yang dipilih, dan merupakan adegan terbaik dalam film. Trailer ‘The Santri’ yang telah tayang pada Youtube 9 September 2019 ini telah menuai kontroversi sebelum film tersebut tayang. Dikutip dari laman PBNU, film ini mengangkat nilai dan tradisi pembelajaran pondok pesantren yang berbasis kemandirian, kesederhanaan, toleransi, kecintaan terhadap tanah air, serta sikap anti terhadap radikalisme dan terorisme. Sedangkan menurut Luthfi Bashori selaku pengasuh Pesantren Ribath Al Murtadla Al Islami Singosari, film tersebut tidak sesuai dengan syariat Islam serta tidak mengandung tradisi pesantren. Maka dari itu, penelitian ini akan membahas mengenai kontroversi pada gaya hidup santri dalam trailer film ‘The Santri’ yang dikaji menggunakan Teori Semiotika pendekatan Roland Barthes. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan metode analisis isi, menggunakan pendekatan semiotika Roland Barthes. Peneliti mendapatkan data dengan melakukan analisis isi pada trailer film ‘The Santri’.
