Online gambling is an act of cybercrime that is currently rampant in Indonesia. The development of technology is one of the triggers for the online gambling crime itself. Online gambling is a challenge for the State of Indonesia in its eradication because everyone can access it easily using only a mobile phone. The application of sanctions against online gambling practices in Indonesia is an important aspect related to the Electronic Information and Transactions Law concerning Amendments to Law Number 11 of 2008 concerning Electronic Information and Transactions. This research aims to analyze and explore how the Electronic Information and Transaction Law is used as a legal basis in imposing sanctions on online gambling activities in Indonesia. The implementation of sanctions under the EIT Law involves cooperation between law enforcement agencies, regulatory authorities, and internet service providers. Challenges include identifying and effectively dealing with online gambling offenders. This research also analyzes the impact of the implementation of sanctions, including their effectiveness in curbing illegal online gambling activities. While the Electronic Information and Transaction Law provides a powerful tool, it is important to keep updating regulations in accordance with technological developments and online gambling trends. With the case raised in this study, namely the Binomo or Binary Option case committed by Indra Kenz alias Indra Kesuma based on court decision Number: 1240/Pid.Sus/2022/PN.Tng jo court decision Number: 117/Pid.Sus/2022/PT. BTN jo court decision Number: 2029 K/Pid.Sus/2023 which the material can be used to analyze in this study. In conclusion, this research provides a comprehensive overview of the application of online gambling sanctions in Indonesia with a focus on the Electronic Information and Transaction Law and recommendations for strengthening regulations to address the growing challenges in the realm of online gambling in the digital era.
