Abstract

Plastic is a common material found in our society, but it is also one of the country's biggest environmental problems. According to data from the World Population Review, Indonesia ranks fifth as the world's largest producer of plastic ocean waste in 2023. The market for plastic bottled beverages is increasing, as seen in the 2021 data from Momentum Words, where Indonesia is the world's highest consumer of Bubble Tea’s plastic packaged, supported by the lifestyle changes of people who often buy online products. Jewelry is the second most popular product on E-Commerce platforms according to Kredivo in 2021. The difficulty of competition between domestic and foreign traders is due to the perception that foreign product designs are more attractive and varied with cheap and affordable prices. Therefore, exploration of materials from plastic waste using modular mechanisms is carried out, where the final product is expected to be interchangeable into several types of jewelry within one product. The use of PP (Polypropylene) waste material is considered suitable for the final product design. The QFD table method is used to obtain decision results from the exploration, which is then tested on 5 users to assess product performance. Based on the exploration results, the most suitable method is gradual casting, where preheating is done first to produce small-sized plastic, which is then reheated using an aluminum mold. The result is uniform coloring on the material and a solid and strong texture.
