Abstract

Generation Z has often been the focus of attention in this era, especially concerning their depth of engagement with technology. This phenomenon has brought about several negative labels from previous generations, which in turn contribute to high levels of anxiety and depression among Generation Z in Indonesia. This research aims to understand the role of the "Healing" phenomenon and the concept of "work-life balance" with a Salutogenic Design approach as a solution to mental health issues and stress among Generation Z. Three research questions were posed with the aim of finding design strategies for places that meet the needs of Generation Z. The research method includes literature review, precedent analysis of UVA El Paraiso and Liuxiadong A4+B2, preferences from Generation Z questionnaire results, and Space-Syntax analysis as a tool for analyzing locations in Dukuh Atas, Jakarta. The analysis results have presented a place for Generation Z that integrates Healing Space with Working Space, with programs for Physical Leisure, Personal Development, and Creative Therapy, which can reduce levels of anxiety and depression. Through this study, 7 design strategies have been identified with the aim of creating conditions where Generation Z can achieve optimal mental health, attain work-life balance, and increase productivity levels. The integration of Healing Space and Working Space with a Salutogenic Design approach is considered key to bridging the gap between Generation Z and previous generations.
