Abstract

Joglo merupakan bentuk arsitektur tradisional Jawa yang kaya akan nilai budaya dan filosofis yang mencerminkan tradisi lokal bagi masyarakat Jawa. Bangunan tradisional joglo sebagai salah satu warisan budaya Indonesia yang berharga sangat berpotensi untuk diadopsi dalam perkembangan zaman di era modern. Salah satu dari kearifan lokal yang terdapat pada arsitektur joglo adalah sebuah karakter modularitas yang terpresentasikan dalam beberapa elemen arsitekturnya. Modularitas adalah konsep dalam desain yang memiliki karakter sistemik terhadap pengembangan sistem yang menekankan elemen dan komponen memiliki standarisasi serta dapat dipecah atau digabungkan satu sama lain secara fleksibel (pemisahan sistem menjadi komponen-komponen independen yang disebut modul), sehingga dapat memberikan keuntungan fleksibilitas yang variatif dalam penggunaan sistem tersebut. Konsep modularitas dalam arsitektur dapat bermanfaat terhadap perancangan bangunan dan ruang dengan komponen-komponen yang dapat secara mudah digabungkan dan disesuaikan sesuai kebutuhan, sehingga dapat memberikan fleksibilitas dalam mendesain ruang yang dapat menyesuaikan fungsi yang diinginkan tanpa mengubah keseluruhan struktur. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji elemen arsitektur yang memiliki karakteristik modular yang diobservasi melalui studi kasus relokasi bangunan Joglo Siraman. Metode penelitian dalam memahami elemen arsitektur joglo yang memiliki karakter modularitas, akan dimulai dari sebuah studi literatur mengenai teori desain modular, studi preseden mengenai desain modular, kemudian dilanjutkan dengan membedah elemen modular pada studi kasus arsitektur Joglo Siraman. Penelitian ini juga mempertimbangkan pemanfaatan material yang ramah lingkungan dalam konteks modularitas dalam kebutuhan masyarakat modern. Melalui rangkaian kegiatan studi pada penelitian ini, sebuah elemen modular dapat diadopsi dan lebih lanjut dikembangkan menjadi bagian dari perancangan kompleks gedung komunitas seni tari Sekar Djagad yang dapat menyesuaikan kebutuhan fungsional ruang baru dan tetap menjaga nilai tradisi lokal./ Joglo is a form of traditional Javanese architecture that is rich in cultural and philosophical values that reflect local traditions for Javanese people. The traditional joglo building as one of Indonesia's valuable cultural heritages has the potential to be adopted in developments in the modern era. One of the local wisdoms contained in joglo architecture is the modularity character which is presented in several architectural elements. Modularity is a concept in design that has a systemic character towards system development which emphasizes that elements and components have standardization and can be divided or combined with each other flexibly (separation of the system into independent components called modules), so that it can provide varied flexibility benefits in use of the system. The concept of modularity in architecture can be useful for designing buildings and spaces with components that can be easily combined and adjusted according to needs, thereby providing flexibility in designing spaces that can adapt to the desired function without changing the overall structure. This research aims to examine architectural elements that have modular characteristics which are observed through a case study of the relocation of the Joglo Siraman building. The research method in understanding Joglo architectural elements which have the character of modularity, will start from a literature study regarding modular design theory, a study of precedents regarding modular design, then continued by dissecting the modular elements in the Joglo Siraman architectural case study. This research also considers the use of environmentally friendly materials in the context of modularity in the needs of modern society. Through a series of study activities in this research, a modular element can be adopted and further developed as part of the design of the Sekar Djagad dance community building complex which can adapt to the functional needs of the new space and still maintain local traditional values.
