Abstract
Studi ini membahas konseptualisasi dan pengembangan visual untuk proyek video game berbasis naratif, "Imah Nenek". Mengambil inspirasi dari berbagai sumber, termasuk narasi dari serial TV “Midnight Diner” dan tema kehidupan sehari-hari, proyek ini bertujuan untuk menggambarkan tantangan dan momen-momen yang menghangatkan hati yang dialami oleh para pekerja di Jakarta. Melalui proses pembuatan desain karakter, lingkungan, properti, dan key art, proyek ini mengeksplorasi tema-tema kesulitan, pertemanan, dan kegigihan dalam menghadapi perjuangan sehari-hari. Selain itu, penelitian ini juga menguji berbagai gaya visual dan teknik, seperti cel shading dan rendering semi-realistis, dengan tujuan menangkap secara efektif kepribadian dan beragamnya bentuk wajah dari karakter-karakter video game tersebut. Hasil penelitian ini memberikan wawasan berharga tentang proses menerjemahkan konsep naratif menjadi seni visual dalam konteks pengembangan video game, yang juga memberikan implikasi penting bagi proyek-proyek masa depan dalam bidang penceritaan interaktif dan produksi video game. Diharapkan bahwa konsep ini dapat memberikan konsep awal bagi para pengembang video game untuk menciptakan video game “Imah Nenek” di masa depan. Melalui integrasi elemen-elemen setting Indonesia dan penceritaan kontemporer, "Imah Nenek" juga bertujuan untuk menyebarkan informasi tentang masalah kesehatan mental, sambil memupuk empati dan pemahaman di antara para pemain. / This study explores the conceptualization and development of visuals for the narrative-based video game project "Imah Nenek". Drawing inspiration from various sources, including the narrative of the TV series "Midnight Diner" and everyday life themes, the project aims to depict the challenges and heartwarming moments experienced by workers in Jakarta. Through character design, environments, properties, and key art creation, it delves into themes of hardship, fellowship, and resilience in facing daily struggles. The research also examines visual styles like cel shading and semi-realistic rendering to effectively capture the diverse personalities and facial shapes of the characters. Findings provide insights into translating narrative concepts into visual artistry in video game development, with implications for interactive storytelling and game production. This concept could serve as a foundation for developers to create "Imah Nenek" in the future, integrating Indonesian settings and contemporary storytelling. Furthermore, it aims to share information about mental health issues while fostering empathy and understanding among players.
