Abstract

Selain itu, IJEPA telah memfasilitasi kerja sama antara Indonesia dengan Jepang dalam meningkatkan daya saing industri Indonesia menghadapi persaingan industri otomotif global./ Indonesia and Japan have been in a very long cooperative relationship and one of their forms of cooperation is in the automotive industry. This is an interesting topic to discuss because the majority of Indonesian automotive industry comes from Japan. Indonesia wants to convince Japan to continue to switch technology to the automotive industry. The main study objective aims to identify how Indonesia cooperates with Japan in improving competitiveness on the automotive sector with other countries by utilizing Indonesia Japan Economic Partnership Agreement (IJEPA), including competing with China and South Korea. China and South Korea have entered a sizable automotive market by issuing their own car brand creations. Although car brands and car components from Japan have spread widely in Indonesia, Japan must continue to improve the quality of its cars so that they are not easily rivalled. This research uses the theory of Neoliberalism. Neoliberalism theory deals with the domestic system, individual freedom, political freedom, and democracy. The concepts used in this research are economic diplomacy, bilateral cooperation, and technology transfer. The data collection techniques used are qualitative data and descriptive analysis that explains how Indonesia establishes a cooperative relationship with Japan in the automotive sector. The data were obtained through literature studies taken from journals, books, and websites where the main data of the analysis was known from the secondary data analysis. Indonesia uses IJEPA as an economic diplomacy that convinces Japan to finance investment in the development of bilateral cooperation between Indonesia and Japan. In addition, IJEPA has facilitated cooperation between Indonesia and Japan in increasing Indonesia's industrial competitiveness days to face global automotive industry competition.
