Abstract

This study examines the legal protection of safety and security for driver partners and users of Grab Indonesia's on-demand services, with a specific focus on incidents of harassment, assault/rape, and accidents. The research has two primary objectives: (1) To resolve legal issues concerning the protection of safety and security for driver partners and users, particularly in cases of harassment, assault/rape, and accidents, and (2) To investigate the legal accountability of Grab Indonesia in situations that threaten or compromise the safety and security of its stakeholders. By analyzing the existing legal frameworks and regulations affecting operational safety and security measures implemented by Grab Indonesia, this thesis identifies significant gaps in the protections offered to individuals engaged with the on-demand platform. The study reviews relevant legal provisions and case law to highlight deficiencies in current regulations and the need for a robust legal framework that can adequately protect all parties involved. The findings provide recommendations for enhancing the regulatory framework to ensure comprehensive safety and security protections. This research contributes to the academic understanding of legal protections in the gig economy. It offers practical insights for policymakers, platform operators, and the public, advocating for a safer environment in on-demand services.
