Abstract

Human trafficking is any buying and selling transaction related to humans as the object. It is also a criminal act and violation of human rights which involves victims being bought and sold, sent and resold with violent behavior. This problem occurs throughout the world and continues to develop and expands in various regions. The main problem raised in this research is how legal protection for victims of trafficking is regulated in Employment Regulation No. 39 of 2004. This research contains the basic understanding of human trafficking, factors that cause human trafficking, methods used by perpetrators of criminal acts of human trafficking, real cases which occur in various regions, processes, legal considerations and sanctions against perpetrators. This research method was created based on the Normative Legal Method which contains library data, namely statutory regulations, legal books, judge's decisions, mass media, and scientific journals related to the problems in the research. Based on the results of this research, the crime of human trafficking is seen from various angles, such as internal and external factors which can be linked to various things including poverty, low education, culture, the desire to get rich quickly, and law enforcement. Preventive countermeasures are all efforts to reduce the space and opportunity to commit crimes, and repressive countermeasures are actions taken by law enforcement officials after the crime has been committed. In preventing and eradicating criminal acts, the government must cooperate with the community on a small to large scale.
