Abstract
Peningkatan pelayanan pendidikan di Indonesia sangat terkait dengan Gross Enrollment Rate (GER). Penelitian ini dimaksudkan untuk memahami faktor-faktor internal dan eksternal yang mempengaruhi Use Behavior (UB) siswa dalam memilih jurusan di Pendidikan Tinggi. Faktor internal yang dipertimbangkan adalah Self-Congruity (SC), sementara faktor eksternal meliputi Social Influence (SI) dan Information Usefulness (IU), baik melalui pengaruh langsung maupun melalui variabel mediasi seperti Information Adoption (IA) dan Behavioral Intention (BI).
Penelitian ini mengadopsi metode kuantitatif dengan menggunakan cluster sampling diikuti oleh simple random sampling. Partisipan penelitian terdiri dari 223 siswa dari sekolah negeri dan 177 siswa dari sekolah swasta, semuanya berada di kelas 12. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa SC, SI, dan BI memiliki pengaruh positif dan signifikan terhadap UB siswa. Namun, IU belum memberikan hasil sesuai dengan yang direncanakan. Meskipun demikian, BI dapat ditingkatkan melalui mediasi IA, yang pada akhirnya akan meningkatkan UB siswa.
Penelitian ini mengeksplorasi pengaruh SC terhadap UB dan BI siswa, mengungkapkan bahwa tingkat SC yang lebih tinggi mengindikasikan perilaku yang lebih positif, sedangkan tingkat SC yang lebih rendah mengindikasikan perilaku yang kurang menguntungkan. SI memiliki dampak signifikan terhadap UB, dengan pengaruh yang lebih besar meningkatkan kemungkinan perilaku yang diinginkan dan mengurangi kemungkinan perilaku yang tidak diinginkan, memvalidasi teori SI. Namun, IU berdampak positif terhadap UB dan BI siswa, tetapi tidak secara signifikan mempengaruhi perilaku mereka, menunjukkan perbedaan dengan teori yang memprediksi dampak yang lebih besar. IA dianggap penting dalam mengubah niat dan perilaku siswa, karena membantu siswa dalam menginternalisasi informasi baru dan menerapkannya dalam berbagai konteks. Administrator sekolah dapat meningkatkan SC siswa dengan menerapkan program bedah buku dan diskusi dalam kelompok kecil untuk meningkatkan interaksi positif antar siswa. Sementara itu, administrator sekolah dapat menerapkan program Outward Bound untuk meningkatkan kepemimpinan, keterampilan sosial, dan interaksi positif di antara siswa, serta untuk mengembangkan karakter siswa melalui tantangan fisik./Improving education services in Indonesia was closely related to the Gross Enrollment Rate (GER). This researched was intended to understand the internal and external factors that influence student Use Behavior (UB) in choosing a major in higher education. The internal factor considered was Self-Congruity (SC), while external factors include Social Influence (SI) and Information Usefulness (IU), both through direct influence and through mediating variables such as Information Adoption (IA) and Behavioral Intention (BI).
This researched adopts a quantitative method used cluster sampling followed by simple random sampling. The researched participants consisted of 223 students from state schools and 177 students from private schools, all of whom was in grade 12. The researched results showed that SC, SI, and BI had a positive and significant influence on students’ UB. However, IU had not produced the results as planned. Nevertheless, BI could been improved through IA mediation, which would ultimately increase students’ UB.
This studied explored the influence of SC on students’ UB and BI, revealing that higher levels of SC indicate more positive behavior, whereas lowered levels of SC indicate less favorable behavior. SI had a significant impact on UB, with greater effects increasing the likelihood of desired behavior and reducing the likelihood of undesirable behavior, validating SI theory. However, IU had a positive impact on students’ UB and BI, but did not significantly influence their behavior, indicating a difference with theory that predicts a larger impact. IA was considered important in changing students’ intentions and behavior, because it helps students internalize new information and apply it in various contexts. School administrators could increase student SC by implementing book review program and small group discussion to increase positive interactions between students. Meanwhile, school administrators could implement outward bound programs to improved leadership, social skills, and positive interactions among students, as well as to develop student character through physical challenges.
