Abstract

PT XYZ faces challenges in data management and security due to using a server system with built-in sharing features from Windows. The increasing volume and complexity of the company require a storage solution that is efficient, affordable, and capable of providing strict access control and good data redundancy. The current system cannot meet the company's needs in terms of management efficiency, data security, and user privacy, necessitating a more optimal solution. This study proposes the implementation a NAS server based on TrueNAS CORE at PT XYZ. The methodology used is the Network Development Life Cycle (NDLC), which includes stages such as literature review, problem identification, needs analysis, design, prototype simulation, implementation, testing, and evaluation. The proposed solution involves developing a NAS server based on TrueNAS CORE using a Virtual Machine combined with Soft-RAID 1 to enhance data redundancy. TrueNAS CORE is chosen for its ability to provide centralized and secure storage. This study also includes designing the SMB protocol for file sharing, using monitoring applications like Hard Disk Sentinel, and data backup strategies using full backup, incremental backup, and cloud backup methods. The expected outcomes are increased data storage efficiency, better access control management, and reduced risk of data loss. The implementation results show that the adoption of TrueNAS CORE has successfully enhanced data efficiency and security at PT XYZ. Testing with Apache JMeter demonstrated that TrueNAS CORE can handle simultaneous access loads from 100 users stably. The average file transfer speed achieved by TrueNAS CORE was 20,73 MBps, with an average duration of 110,5 seconds. User access management has become more structured and easier to monitor, and data redundancy has improved due to the use of Soft-RAID 1. In conclusion, the implementation of TrueNAS CORE at PT XYZ has successfully met the company's need for an efficient, secure, reliable, and affordable data storage solution (based on interviews with PT XYZ's HRD representative). / PT XYZ menghadapi kendala dalam pengelolaan dan keamanan data karena masih menggunakan sistem server dengan fitur sharing bawaan dari Windows. Peningkatan volume dan kompleksitas perusahaan memerlukan solusi penyimpanan yang tidak hanya efisien dan terjangkau, tetapi juga mampu menyediakan hak akses yang ketat dan redundansi data yang baik. Sistem yang ada saat ini tidak mampu memenuhi kebutuhan perusahaan dalam hal efisiensi pengelolaan, keamanan data, dan privasi pengguna, sehingga diperlukan solusi yang lebih optimal. Penelitian ini mengusulkan penerapan server NAS berbasis TrueNAS CORE di PT XYZ. Metodologi yang digunakan adalah Network Development Life Cycle (NDLC) yang terdiri dari tahap studi pustaka, identifikasi masalah, analisis kebutuhan, perancangan, simulasi prototype, implementasi, pengujian, dan evaluasi. Solusi yang diusulkan meliputi pengembangan server NAS berbasis TrueNAS CORE menggunakan Virtual Machine dipadukan dengan Soft-RAID 1 untuk meningkatkan redundansi data. TrueNAS CORE dipilih karena kemampuannya dalam menyediakan penyimpanan terpusat yang aman dan spesifik. Selain itu, penelitian ini juga mencakup perancangan protokol SMB untuk file sharing, penggunaan aplikasi monitoring seperti Hard Disk Sentinel, serta strategi backup data menggunakan metode full backup, incremental backup, dan cloud backup. Hasil akhir yang diharapkan penulis adalah peningkatan efisiensi penyimpanan data, pengelolaan hak akses yang lebih baik, serta pengurangan risiko kehilangan data. Hasil implementasi menunjukkan bahwa penerapan TrueNAS CORE telah berhasil meningkatkan efisiensi dan keamanan data di PT XYZ. Pengujian menggunakan Apache JMeter menunjukkan bahwa TrueNAS CORE dapat menangani beban akses simultan dari 100 user dengan stabil. Pengujian kecepatan rata-rata file transfer TrueNAS CORE yang didapat sebesar 20,73 MBps dengan durasi rata-rata 110,5 second. Pengelolaan hak akses menjadi lebih terstruktur dan mudah diawasi, serta redundansi data meningkat berkat penggunaan Soft-RAID 1. Kesimpulannya, penerapan TrueNAS CORE di PT XYZ berhasil memenuhi kebutuhan perusahaan akan solusi penyimpanan data yang efisien, aman, handal, dan terjangkau (berdasarkan wawancara dengan representatif HRD PT XYZ).
