Abstract

This research is meant to show the implementation of tango nuevo’s element inside the Sonata du Tango “Fuerte Personalidad”. This work is mainly provoked by the existence of indonesian composer inside the tango culture. there arent many non argentinian composer who create tango. but, the creation of tango nuevo increase the possibility of non argentinian composer to compose tango. Sonata du tango is a sonata with three mvement which implies the concept of tango nuevo. There are several key elements which defend the authenticity of tango nuevo which is 3-3-2 rhythm, arrastre, cantando, sincopa, and extensive technique, chicharra. in contrary, there are counterpoint like technique, rondo sonata form, pedal point, sequence, chain of imitation, extnded harmony, circle of fifth harmony, and inversionl. There musical elements implied with an order inside three themes with rondo sonata form. This research shows that “Fuerte Personalidad” is one of tango nuevos that build from many compositional technique and also the aculturation between tango, jazz, and western classical music. / Penulisan karya tulis ini bertujuan untuk memaparkan implementasi elemen musik tango nuevo dalam karya Sonata du Tango “Fuerte Personalidad.” Adapun yang menjadi latar belakang penulisan ini karena karya ini merupakan salah satu karya tango yang ditulis oleh komposer non-Argentina. Sonata du Tango merupakan karya sonata dengan tiga movement yang mengimplementasikan konsep tango nuevo. Terdapat beberapa elemen kunci yang mempertahankan otentisitas tango nuevo dari karya ini, yaitu ritmik 3-3-2, teknik arrastre, cantando, sincopa, dan teknik ekstensif chicharra. Sedangkan elemen komposisi diluar musik tango tradisional yang diakulturasikan dan membentuk tango nuevo dalam karya ini adalah teknik penulisan menyerupai kontrapung, form sonata berjenis rondo, pedal point, sequence, chain of imitation, extended harmony, circle of fifth harmony, dan inversion. Elemen komposisi musik tango nuevo ini diimplementasikan secara terstruktur ke dalam tiga tema dengan form sonata berjenis rondo. Penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa karya “Fuerte Personalidad” merupakan salah satu karya tango nuevo yang berasal dari penggabungan berbagai macam pengembangan teknik komposisi maupun akulturasi antara musik tango, jazz, dan musik klasik Barat.
