Abstract

Penelitian ini berfokus pada pentingnya peran media massa dalam membentuk opini publik, khususnya dalam konteks Pemilihan Umum Presiden dan Wakil Presiden di Indonesia tahun 2024. Media massa memiliki kemampuan untuk mempengaruhi persepsi masyarakat terhadap kandidat melalui cara mereka mengemas berita, yang dikenal sebagai framing. Metro TV News, sebagai salah satu stasiun televisi berita terkemuka di Indonesia, memiliki tanggung jawab besar untuk menjaga netralitas dalam pemberitaan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis rumusan masalah yaitu terkait dengan netralitas media massa Metro TV News dalam framing kandidat Calon Presiden dan Calon Wakil Presiden selama masa penyelenggaraan Pemilu 2024 di Indonesia. Penelitian ini menggunakan teori konstruksi media dan analisis framing sebagai kerangka teoritis, untuk menjelaskan bagaimana media membentuk realitas melalui pemilihan dan penyajian berita sekaligus menyoroti bagaimana aspek-aspek tertentu dari suatu berita diutamakan atau diabaikan untuk membentuk interpretasi tertentu. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah pendekatan kualitatif dengan menggunakan metode analisis framing, dengan dengan hasil bahwa metro tv lebih condong ke paslon kosong satu dan lebih kritis ke paslon kosong dua sedangkan ke paslon kosong tiga lebih ke arah netral. / This study focuses on the important role of mass media in shaping public opinion, particularly in the context of the Presidential and Vice-Presidential Elections in Indonesia in 2024. The mass media has the ability to influence public perceptions of candidates through the way they frame news, known as framing. Metro TV News, as one of the leading news television stations in Indonesia, has a significant responsibility to maintain neutrality in its reporting. This study aims to analyze the issue of the neutrality of Metro TV News in framing the Presidential and VicePresidential candidates during the 2024 Election period in Indonesia. The study uses media construction theory and framing analysis as its theoretical framework, to explain how media constructs reality through the selection and presentation of news while also highlighting how certain aspects of a newsstory are emphasized or ignored to shape specific interpretations. The method used in this research is a qualitative approach employing framing analysis method. The results show that Metro TV is more favorable towards candidate pair zero one and more critical of candidate pair zero two, while candidate pair zero is portrayed in a more neutral manner.
