Abstract

Nowadays palm oil is the most used vegetable oil in the world. Beside of it’s more affordable price than the other vegetable oil, it has also been used because it can be processed into various form. Furthermore, in the state level, palm oil is an important trade commodity for Palm oil countries producers. However palm oil is currently a controversy in many countries because of environmental issue. Even European union is attempt to shut down palm oil to their market in biofuel sector. Which is Indonesia is currently disputing the European Union’s action. This research is aiming to determine the interests of Indonesia and European Union about the problem of palm oil trade. This research is also aiming to determine the action that Indonesia has made to encounter the problem. This research is using qualitative method with purposed to explain the interests of Indonesia and European Union about the palm oil trade’s problem and the actions of Indonesia to encounter that problem by data collection through interview, literature review, and online researched and then the data is categorized and analyzed. From the result of this research, it known that in this trade barrier, Indonesia has economic interest that connected to various Indonesia’s important aspects. However, it is discovered that European Union’s actions to shut down palm oil into their market are not based on the environmental interest only. This research is also discovered that from 2015 until now Indonesia has done various efforts in both domestically and internationally in the matter of this problem. / Saat ini, minyak kelapa sawit merupakan jenis minyak nabati yang paling banyak digunakan di dunia. Selain karena harganya murah, minyak kelapa sawit banyak dipergunakan karena dapat diolah ke dalam beragam bentuk untuk dimanfaatkan masyarakat. Bahkan pada tingkat kenegaraan, negara produsen minyak kelapa sawit menjadikan minyak kelapa sawit sebagai komoditi penting perdagangan internasional, salah satunya adalah Indonesia. Namun minyak kelapa sawit saat ini juga tengah menjadi kontroversi di berbagai negara karena adanya isu terkait lingkungan yang salah satunya sangat dipermasalahkan oleh Uni Eropa. Bahkan Uni Eropa saat ini tengah berupaya menutup masuknya minyak kelapa sawit ke pasarnya disektor biofuel. Dimana Indonesia tengah menyengketakan tindakan Uni Eropa tersebut. Oleh karena itu penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui kepentingan-kepentingan dari Indonesia dan Uni Eropa dalam hambatan perdagangan minyak kelapa sawit. Serta penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui upaya apa saja yang dilakukan Indonesia sebagai negara produsen minyak kelapa sawit dalam menghadapi hambatan perdagangan tersebut dengan Uni Eropa. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif dengan tujuan untuk menjelaskan kepentingan dari Indonesia dan Uni Eropa dalam permasalahan perdagangan minyak kelapa sawit diantara keduanya, serta upaya yang dilakukan Indonesia dalam menghadapi masalah tersebut dengan teknik pengumpulan data melalui wawancara, studi pustaka dan penelusuran daring yang selanjutnya dikelompokan dan dianalisis. Dari hasil penelitian diketahui bahwa dalam hambatan perdagangan ini, Indonesia memiliki kepentingan ekonomi yang menghubungkan berbagai aspek penting di Indonesia. Sedangkan ternyata bukan kepentingan lingkungan yang menjadi dasar utama Uni Eropa melakukan tindakan penutupan pasar terhadap minyak kelapa sawit. Dari penelitian ini juga diketahui bahwa dari 2015 sampai saat ini, Indonesia telah melakukan beragam upaya baik didalam negeri maupun diluar negeri terkait masalah tersebut.
