Abstract

Vocabulary, speaking and expressive skills need to be developed early on. This aligns with one of the important aspects in the Standards of Developmental Achievement Levels for Children (STPPA) in the language and socio-emotional domains. However, the observations by the researcher at SDH Daan Mogot, especially in the K1 class with children aged 3−4 years, have shown that more than half of the students only master limited vocabulary, face difficulties in speaking, and expressing their feelings accurately. This hinders the learning processes in the classroom, which should involve good interactions and cooperations between the teachers and their students. Therefore, the Classroom Action Research design with the Kemmis and McTaggart’s model was applied in three cycles to analyze the improvements of vocabulary, speaking and expressive skills of the 13 K1 students at SDH Daan Mogot in the language lessons through the implementation of the role-playing method. The data for this research were obtained from the observation sheets containing the rubrics and the teacher’s field notes. The results have indicated that the implementation of the role-playing method can improve the vocabulary, speaking and expressive skills of the 3−4 year old children in the language lessons at SDH Daan Mogot/Kosakata, keterampilan berbicara dan berekspresi perlu dikembangkan sejak dini. Ini sejalan dengan salah satu aspek penting dalam Standar Tingkat Pencapaian Perkembangan Anak (STPPA) dalam aspek bahasa dan sosial-emosional. Namun, pengamatan oleh peneliti di SDH Daan Mogot, khususnya di Kelas K1 dengan anak-anak berusia 3−4 tahun, menunjukkan bahwa lebih dari setengah siswa hanya menguasai kosakata yang terbatas, mengalami kesulitan berbicara, dan mengekspresikan perasaan mereka dengan tepat. Hal ini menghambat proses pembelajaran di kelas, yang seharusnya melibatkan interaksi dan kerjasama yang baik antara guru dan siswa. Oleh karena itu, desain Penelitian Tindakan Kelas (PTK) dengan model Kemmis dan McTaggart diterapkan dalam tiga siklus untuk menganalisis peningkatan kosakata, keterampilan berbicara dan berekspresi dari 13 siswa K1 di SDH Daan Mogot dalam pelajaran bahasa melalui penerapan metode bermain peran. Data untuk penelitian ini diperoleh dari lembar observasi yang berupa rubrik dan catatan lapangan guru. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penerapan metode bermain peran dapat meningkatkan kosakata, keterampilan berbicara dan berekspresi anak-anak berusia 3−4 tahun dalam pelajaran Bahasa di SDH Daan Mogot.
