Abstract
Language is an essential aspect that needs to be developed within every child. Through language, a child can convey their thoughts to others and express their needs. With the advancement of time, language mastery is no longer confined to the native language but also extends to foreign languages, especially English. In the school where the researcher works, early childhood students are already trained to converse in English. However, it was found that the majority of students in the K2 Green class still respond in Indonesian, even when the teacher attempts to communicate with them in English. The limited English vocabulary of the students also makes it difficult for them to express opinions in English. Therefore, the researcher aims to implement storytelling methods to enhance vocabulary mastery and English speaking skills among K2 students at XYZ School in West Jakarta. This research is conducted within a classroom action research design involving 18 K2 Green class students aged 4-5 years (three of whom have special needs). The storytelling technique utilized in this research is digital storytelling. Data collection is carried out through field notes, observations, and interviews with students. After two cycles, the results indicate an improvement in vocabulary mastery and English speaking skills among 15 students with a percentage of > 75%. However, the remaining three students with special needs have not shown significant progress, achieving a percentage below 75%.
