Abstract
Student learning concentration, student language skills, and teacher competency are very important in achieving student development in early childhood education. These three competencies in the XYZ Playgroup Class in Jakarta have not been well developed. This research aims to analyze the effectiveness of the clapping playing method on teacher competence, the development of student learning concentration, improving students' language skills, as well as the implementation of the learning process in the classroom. The research method used is classroom action research which includes three cycles, each cycle includes the stages of planning, observation, action and reflection. The research subjects were 16 students, two observers. The research instrument is an assessment rubric to measure teacher competency, student learning concentration, and student learning ability. The research results showed that teacher competency increased from Cycle 1 to Cycle 2 with an N-Gain of 0.3, but from Cycle 2 to Cycle 3 there was no increase because the N-Gain value was still the same (0.3). Meanwhile, the comparison of teacher competency from Cycle 1 to Cycle 3 achieved good development, because the N-Gain value reached 0.6. Student learning concentration has increased, as can be seen from the N-Gain from Cycle 1 to Cycle 2, an increase of 0.4 was obtained. Then the N-Gain from Cycle 2 to Cycle 3 obtained an increased value of 0.6. Students' language skills experienced an increase in N-Gain from Cycle 1 to Cycle 2, resulting in an increase of 0.4. Then the N-Gain from Cycle 2 to Cycle 3 obtained an increased value of 0.5. The results of this research show that the learning process using the clapping game method according to theme has succeeded in increasing children's learning concentration and language skills, but is less than optimal in increasing teacher competence. / Konsentrasi belajar siswa, kemampuan bahasa siswa, dan kompetensi guru sangat penting dalam pencapaian perkembangan siswa pada pendidikan usia dini. Ketiga kompetensi tersebut pada Kelas Kelompok Bermain XYZ di Jakarta belum berkembang dengan baik. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis efektivitas metode bermain tepuk pada kompetensi guru, perkembangan konsentrasi belajar siswa, peningkatan kemampuan bahasa siswa, serta penerapan proses pembelajaran di kelas. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah penelitian tindakan kelas yang mencakup tiga siklus yang masing-masing siklus meliputi tahapan perencanaan, observasi, tindakan, dan refleksi. Subjek penelitian adalah 16 siswa, observer dua orang. Instrumen penelitian adalah rubrik penilaian untuk mengukur kompetensi guru, konsentrasi belajar siswa, dan kemampuan belajar siswa. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kompetensi guru mengalami peningkatan dari Siklus 1 ke Siklus 2 dengan N-Gain sebesar 0,3, namun dari Siklus 2 ke Siklus 3 tidak terjadi peningkatan karena nilai N-Gain masih sama (0,3). Sementara itu perbandingan kompetensi guru dari Siklus 1 ke Siklus 3 mencapai perkembangan yang baik, karena nilai N-Gain mencapai 0,6. Konsentrasi belajar siswa mengalami peningkatan, tampak dari N-Gain dari Siklus 1 ke Siklus 2 diperoleh nilai peningkatan 0,4. Kemudian N-Gain dari Siklus 2 ke Siklus 3 diperoleh nilai peningkatan 0,6. Kemampuan bahasa siswa mengalami peningkatan N-Gain dari Siklus 1 ke Siklus 2 diperoleh nilai peningkatan 0,4. Kemudian N-Gain dari Siklus 2 ke Siklus 3 diperoleh nilai peningkatan 0,5. Hasil penelitian tersebut menunjukkan bahwa proses belajar dengan menggunakan metode bermain tepuk sesuai tema telah berhasil meningkatkan konsentrasi belajar anak dan kemampuan bahasa anak, namun kurang optimal dalam meningkatkan kompetensi guru.
