Abstract
This study is motivated by the low speaking ability, social skills and independence of children aged 4–5 years. The purpose of this study is to find the effect of applying hand puppet media on children's speaking ability, social skills, and independence. The design of this research is Quasi Experiment. In this model there are experimental groups and control groups. The application of hand puppet media in learning is used by researchers to see the improvement of children's speaking ability, social skills and independence. The steps in this study are as follows: 1) Giving pretest; 2) Application of puppet media; 3) Implementation of posttest; 4) Processing and analyzing the data obtained by comparing the results of the pretest and posttest; 5) Drawing conclusions based on the analysis. The subjects of this study were 4–5 year old children consisting of 18 experimental group children and 18 control group children. The instrument used was an assessment rubric to measure speaking ability, social skills and children's independence. The results showed an increase in the average pretest and posttest. Speaking ability score from 57.44 to 80.11. Social skills score from 56.67 to 77.33. Independence score from 59.06 to 81.33. Based on these achievements, it can be concluded that there are differences in speaking ability, social skills and independence of children aged 4–5 years before and after the application of hand puppets. / Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh rendahnya keterampilan berbicara, keterampilan sosial dan kemandirian anak usia 4–5 tahun. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mencari pengaruh penerapan media boneka tangan terhadap keterampilan berbicara, keterampilan sosial, dan kemandirian anak. Desain penelitian ini adalah Quasi Eksperimen. Dalam model ini terdapat kelompok eksperimen dan kelompok kontrol. Penerapan media boneka tangan dalam pembelajaran digunakan oleh peneliti untuk melihat peningkatan keterampilan berbicara, keterampilan sosial dan kemandirian anak. Langkah-langkah dalam penelitian ini sebagai berikut: 1) Pemberian pretest; 2) Penerapan media boneka; 3) Penyelenggaraan posttest; 4) Pengolahan dan analisis data yang diperoleh dengan membandingkan hasil pretest dan posttest; 5) Penarikan kesimpulan berdasarkan analisis. Subjek penelitian ini yaitu anak usia 4–5 tahun yang terdiri dari 18 anak kelompok eksperimen dan 18 anak kelompok kontrol. Instrumen yang digunakan adalah rubrik penilaian untuk mengukur keterampilan berbicara, keterampilan sosial dan kemandirian anak. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan terjadinya peningkatan rata-rata pretest dan posttest. Nilai keterampilan berbicara dari 57.44 menjadi 80.11. Nilai keterampilan sosial dari 56.67 menjadi 77.33. Nilaikemandirian dari 59.06 menjadi 81.33. Berdasarkan capaian tersebut maka dapat disimpulkan bahwa terdapat perbedaan keterampilan berbicara, keterampilan sosial dan kemandirian anak usia 4–5 tahun sebelum dan setelah penerapan boneka tangan.
