Abstract
The aim of this research is to increase students’ classification ability, social emotional skills using Student Teams Achievement Divisions (STAD) type of cooperative learning, and to identify the problems and the solution. Prior to the research, pre-test score and observation showed that the students’ skill in classifying objects and social emotional have not achieved the class’ target performance. The research method used was classroom action research with three research cycles. By referring to Kemmis and McTaggart model, this research was started with planning, action, observation and reflection. The subject of this research was 13 kindergarten students at Sekolah Pelita Harapan Pluit Village Jakarta. The result of the research showed that the ability of classifying object and social emotional skills increased. The research also showed the application STAD involved several problems, namely lack of groups’ cooperation, time management, students’ mood that could disrupt the learning process. The possible solutions for those problems were the teacher could start with opening games to increase their group unity, show the timer in front of the class, and conduct ice breaker activities to boost their mood. It can be concluded that the implementation of STAD can increase classification ability and social emotional at Kindergarten Sekolah Pelita Harapan Pluit Village Jakarta. / Tujuan penelitian ini untuk meningkatkan kemampuan mengklasifikasikan benda, sosial emosional melalui metode pembelajaran STAD dan mengidentifikasi masalah dan solusinya. Sebelum diberikan tindakan, hasil dari pre-test dan observasi menunjukkan kemampuan klasifikasi siswa dan perkembangan sosial emosional masih rendah. Kemudian peneliti melakukan metode pembelajaran kooperatif STAD. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah Penelitian Tindakan Kelas yang dilakukan dalam tiga siklus. Dengan mengacu kepada Kemmis dan McTaggart model, penelitian ini dimulai dengan tahap perencanaan, tindakan, observasi dan refleksi. Subjek penelitian adalah siswa TTK 3 yang berjumlah 13 siswa di Sekolah Pelita Harapan Pluit Village Jakarta. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan adanya peningkatan kemampuan mengklasifikasikan benda dan sosial emosional siswa. Hasil penelitian metode STAD menunjukkan terdapat masalah kurangnya kerjasama dalam kelompok, keterbatasan waktu, dan perasaan atau mood siswa. Untuk mencari solusinya, guru dapat memberikan permainan kelompok sebagai pembuka, menampilkan timer di depan kelas, dan aktivitas ice breaker untuk membantu siswa yang moodnya kurang baik. Kesimpulan penelitian tindakan kelas adalah metode pembelajaran kooperatif STAD dapat meningkatkan kemampuan klasifikasi dan sosial emosional siswa di TK 3 Sekolah Pelita Harapan Pluit Village Jakarta.
