Abstract

Referensi: 91 (1994-2023). Kata kunci: status hidrasi, pemeriksaan urine sendiri (PURI), memori jangka pendek, Scenery Picture Memory Test (SPMT)./ Background: Brain contains 73% water content, thereby rendering brain function significantly susceptible to hydration status. Based on cross-sectional data collected in Indonesia in 2016, approximately 28% of respondents aged 18-65 years did not achieve adequate water consumption Hence, there exists a pertinent need to elucidate the correlation between hydration status and short-term memory function, particularly within the student demographic, in order to garner heightened awareness. Objective: To know the relationship between hydration status and short-term memory function in students of the Faculty of Medicine Universitas Pelita Harapan. Method: This research used a cross-sectional study design conducted on 44 students of the Faculty of Medicine, Pelita Harapan University using a non-probability sampling techniques. This research was conducted using the urine self-examination method or PURI and the Scenery Picture Memory Test (SPMT). Result: The SPMT score in the adequately hydrated group was 17.71 + 3.429, while in mild dehydration it was 17.22 + 2.467, and in severe dehydration it was 19.00 + 2.160. The difference in SPMT scores did not have significant significance with a p- value of 0.338 (p < 0.05). References: 91 (1994-2023). Keywords: hidration status, urine self-examination, short-term memory, Scenery Picture Memory Test (SPMT).
