Abstract
The learning process in PAUD has a very important role in the child's growth
and development process in preparing them to enter the next level of education.
Some elements that are important to develop are motivation to learn and language
skills, such as the ability to read letters and words when following the learning
process at school. Since the onset of Covid-19 and the emergence of online learning,
students' learning motivation and language skills, especially in reading, have
decreased. Therefore, appropriate methods are needed that can be used to increase
their learning motivation and reading ability. One way to overcome this problem is
to use flashcards in the form of letter and picture cards. According to existing theory,
flashcards can be used to increase children's learning motivation and language
skills, especially in reading. This research aims to find out whether flashcards can
increase children's learning motivation and reading ability. The subjects of this
research were 32 A Methodist Kindergarten students. This research uses qualitative
methods, namely classroom action research to see the results of research before and
after treatment. It is hoped that this research can contribute to schools in explaining
the use of flashcards in increasing students' learning motivation and reading ability.
The results of this research show an increase in students' learning motivation and
reading ability by using flashcards. / Proses pembelajaran di PAUD mempunyai peranan yang sangat penting dalam
proses tumbuh kembang anak dalam mempersiapkannya memasuki jenjang
pendidikan selanjutnya. Beberapa unsur yang penting untuk dikembangkan adalah
motivasi belajar dan keterampilan berbahasa, seperti kemampuan membaca huruf
dan kata ketika mengikuti proses pembelajaran di sekolah. Sejak terjadinya Covid�19 dan munculnya pembelajaran daring, motivasi belajar dan kemampuan
berbahasa siswa khususnya dalam membaca mengalami penurunan. Oleh karena itu
diperlukan metode yang tepat yang dapat digunakan untuk meningkatkan motivasi
belajar dan kemampuan membaca mereka. Salah satu cara untuk mengatasi
permasalahan tersebut adalah dengan menggunakan flashcard yang berupa kartu
huruf dan gambar. Menurut teori yang ada, flashcards dapat digunakan untuk
meningkatkan motivasi belajar dan kemampuan berbahasa anak khususnya dalam
membaca. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui apakah flashcards dapat
meningkatkan motivasi belajar dan kemampuan membaca anak. Subyek penelitian
ini adalah siswa TK A Methodist yang berjumlah 32 orang. Penelitian ini
menggunakan metode kualitatif yaitu penelitian tindakan kelas untuk melihat hasil
penelitian sebelum dan sesudah perlakuan. Penelitian ini diharapkan dapat
memberikan kontribusi kepada sekolah dalam menjelaskan penggunaan flashcard
dalam meningkatkan motivasi belajar dan kemampuan membaca siswa. Hasil dari
penelitian ini menunjukkan adanya peningkatan dari motivasi belajar dan
kemampuan membaca siswa dengan menggunakan flashcard.
