Abstract
With the advancement of computer technology as remarked with the current trend of convergence between computer technology and high-demand business of mobile technology, this new area has boosted for the development of various rich media applications. One of well-known application softwares that are common in business practice, as well as in education setting, is what is called presentation tool. Related to this issue, a specific interest that is worth exploring is seeking way to control the presentation flow remotely using mobile phone. This project reflects the same interest. With the support of BlueTooth™ technology to bridge the communication between mobile phone and the computer, an application that runs on Symbian S60 mobile phone is developed. Using this software tool, one may control not only the flow of MS PowerPoint presentation, but also a limited number of simple tasks commonly performed within MS Windows environment. This suggests that one’s mobility during the presentation session is maintained high in contrast to the conventional way that requires one to remain close to the computer running the presentation software to be able to control the flow. As conclusion, even though the processor speed of the mobile phone cannot outperform any desktop or laptop computer, but the functionality of the this remote controlling tool is practically acceptable. In assuring the functionality of the tool, a series of tests is conducted. The result shows that it has 100% success rate within specific range of Bluetooth.
