Abstract

Diabetes melitus (DM) merupakan penyakit kronis dan berat yang menjadi masalah kesehatan masyarakat global. Salah satu penyakit komplikasi pada DM yaitu luka ulkus diabetikum yang prevalensinya di Indonesia sekitar 15%, dengan angka amputasi 30%, dan angka mortalitas 32%. Tumbuhan biwa berpotensi menyembuhkan luka antidibetes dengan metabolit sekunder yang dimiliki tumbuhan biwa. Penelitian ini akan dibuat sediaan emulgel yang bertujuan untuk mengetahui formulasi yang optimal, dan aktivitas penyembuhan luka diabetes melitus dari sediaan emulgel ekstrak etanol 96% kulit batang biwa. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini yaitu ekstraksi secara maserasi menggunakan etanol 96%, formulasi sediaan emulgel, metode excision wound model untuk menguji efek penyembuhan luka diabetes melitus menggunakan hewan uji tikus putih jantan. Analisis data yang digunakan Statistical Package For The Social Sciences (SPSS). Sediaan emulgel dilakukan evaluasi organoleptik, pH, homogenitas, daya sebar, viskositas, uji tipe emulsi, dan uji stabilitas menggunakan metode freeze thraw cycling selama delapan hari. Hasil uji stabilitas dengan cycling test menunjukkan sediaan bahwa ketiga kelompok sediaan stabil selama penyimpanan. Berdasarkan uji penghambatan luka diabetes melitus pada tikus jantan, formula yang terbaik adalah F2. Melalui penelitian ini dapat disimpulkan ekstrak etanol 96% kulit batang biwa memiliki aktivitas penyembuhan luka diabetes melitus pada hewan uji tikus putih jantan, serta formulasi sediaan emulgel memenuhi persyaratan sediaan emulgel./ Diabetes mellitus (DM) is a chronic and serious disease that is a global public health problem. One of the complications of DM is diabetic ulcers, the prevalence of which in Indonesia is around 15%, with an amputation rate of 30% and a mortality rate of 32%. The loquat plant has the potential to heal anti-diabetic wounds with secondary metabolites contained in the loquat plant. This research will create an emulgel preparation which aims to determine the optimal formulation and wound healing activity for diabetes mellitus from the emulgel preparation of 96% ethanol extract of loquat bark. The method used in this research is extraction by maceration using 96% ethanol, emulgel formulation, method excision wound model to test the wound healing effect of diabetes mellitus using male white mice as test animals. Data analysis used Statistical Package For The Social Sciences (SPSS). The emulgel preparation was evaluated for organoleptics, pH, homogeneity, spreadability, viscosity, emulsion type test, and stability test using the freeze thaw cycling method for eight days. The results of the stability test using the cycling test showed that the preparation was stable until cycle 3. Meanwhile, in the next cycle there was a decrease in the physical form and consistency of the preparation. Based on the diabetes mellitus wound inhibition test in male mice, the best formula is F2. Through this research, it can be concluded that the 96% ethanol extract of loquat bark has wound healing activity for diabetes mellitus and the formulation of the emulgel preparation meets the requirements for emulgel preparations.
