Abstract

Diabetes melitus merupakan penyakit menahun yang ditandai dengan tingginya kadar glukosa darah dalam tubuh. Penatalaksanaan penyakit diabetes melitus dapat dilakukan secara farmakologis dengan menggunakan obat-obat sintetis yang diberikan secara oral. Pengobatan secara tradisional juga dilakukan dengan memanfaatkan tumbuhan yang ada di lingkungan masyarakat, salah satunya tumbuhan ketul dan pepaya jepang. Pada penelitian sebelumnya, ekstrak daun pepaya jepang mempunyai khasiat sebagai antioksidan dan memiliki aktivitas antihiperglikemik pada hewan uji mencit (Mus musculus) serta ekstrak daun ketul efektif sebagai penurun berat badan dan kolesterol pada dosis 100 mg/kgBB mencit. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui formulasi kapsul yang tepat dan stabil dari ekstrak daun pepaya jepang dan daun ketul serta telah memenuhi standar mutu yang baik. Tahapan dalam melakukan penelitian ini dimulai dari tahap pembuatan simplisia, pembuatan ekstrak dengan pelarut etanol 96% untuk daun pepaya jepang dan etanol 70% untuk daun ketul menggunakan metode maserasi, pembuatan formulasi dan uji evaluasi sediaan kapsul. Hasil yang diperoleh berdasarkan uji evaluasi yang telah dilakukan adalah formula ekstrak etanol 70% daun ketul telah memenuhi standar mutu yang baik untuk semua uji evaluasi dibandingkan ekstrak etanol 96% daun pepaya jepang hanya memenuhi 4 dari 5 uji evaluasi yakni laju alir serbuk ekstrak etanol 96% daun pepaya jepang, tidak memenuhi syarat mutu sediaan serbuk dengan nilai kurang dari 1,6 yaitu sangat sukar mengalir./ Diabetes mellitus is a chronic disease characterized by high blood sugar levels in the body. Management of diabetes mellitus can be done pharmacologically using synthetic drugs that are given orally. Traditional treatment is also carried out using plants found in the community, one of which is the ketul plant and Japanese papaya. In previous research, Japanese papaya leaf extract had antioxidant properties and had antihyperglycemic activity in mice (Mus musculus) and ketul leaf extract was effective in reducing body weight and cholesterol at a dose of 100 mg/kgBB in mice. This research aims to determine the correct and stable capsule formulation from Japanese papaya and ketul leaf extracts and that meets good quality standards. The stages in conducting this research started from the stage of making simplicia, making extracts with 96% ethanol solvent for Japanese papaya leaves and 70% ethanol for ketul leaves using the maceration method, making formulations and evaluating capsule preparations. The results obtained based on the evaluation tests that have been carried out are that the 70% ketul leaf ethanol extract formula has met good quality standards for all evaluation tests compared to the 96% ethanol extract of Japanese papaya leaves which only meets 4 of the 5 evaluation tests, namely the flow rate of 96% ethanol extract powder. Japanese papaya leaves, do not meet the quality requirements for powder preparations with a value of less than 1.6, namely very difficult to flow.
