Abstract

Ditemukan tingkat stres akademik terbanyak berupa tingkat stres akademik ringan sebanyak 74 responden (45,1%), diikuti tingkat stres akademik berat sebanyak 60 responden (36,6%) dan tingkat stres akademik sedang sebanyak 30 responden (18,3%). / Indonesia is a country with approximately 176,110 medical students in 2022. Medical faculties are one of the fields of study with a heavy burden and weight, both physically and mentally, leading to academic stress. Therefore, an intervention method is needed to reduce the academic stress experienced by medical students in pursuing their education. Generally, this study aims to analyze whether there is a relationship between the preference for music genres and the level of academic stress among UPH medical students. This research was conducted using a cross-sectional analytical comparative numerical design, involving 164 UPH medical students. Data were analyzed using the Kruskal-Wallis test and ordinal regression test. Out of 164 respondents, 114 (69.51%) were women, and 50 (30.49%) were men, with the majority of respondents from the 2021 cohort, totaling 118 (71.95%). The highest level of academic stress was mild academic stress, with 74 respondents (45.1%), followed by severe academic stress with 60 respondents (36.6%), and moderate academic stress with 30 respondents (18.3%). It was also found that the three most popular music genres among UPH medical students were pop music (4.17 ± 1.02), followed by jazz/blues (3.18 ± 1.25), and soul/funk (3.12 ± 1.39). It can be concluded that the preference for music genres and the level of academic stress have an insignificant relationship among the students of the Faculty of Medicine at UPH. Additionally, the type of music that appears to have a relationship with managing academic stress is pop music.
