Abstract
Background: Chronic stress experienced by adolescents predominantly originates from academic areas. This academic stress can disrupt an individual both physically and mentally and is one of the factors influencing the occurrence of primary dysmenorrhea. Primary dysmenorrhea is commonly experienced by female adolescents and can affect their personal lives, limiting their social, and also their academic performance. Currently, there is still limited research examining the relationship between academic stress and the occurrence of primary dysmenorrhea, and the results obtained have been varied.
Research Objective: Identifying the relationship between the impact of academic stress and the incidence of primary dysmenorrhea among female adolescents at Dian Harapan School.
Methodology: The research method used in this study is a cross-sectional study. The sample consists of female high school students at Dian Harapan School, with a minimum of 134 samples. The data obtained will be analyzed bivariately using SPSS Statistics software version 23.
Results: Out of 138 respondents, 79 samples experienced moderate academic stress and 75 samples experienced moderate primary dysmenorrhea. The relationship between academic stress and the incidence of primary dysmenorrhea was not found to be significant based on the Contuinity Correctionb test, with a p-value of 0.467.
Conclusion: There is no relationship found between the level of academic stress and the incidence of primary dysmenorrhea among female high school students at Dian Harapan School.
